Father’s Day Gift Idea: 1,000 Places to See Before You Die (Review) #FathersDay

Death is a very touchy subject around my house these days. Today is my sister’s birthday and she would have been 24 years old. It’s the first birthday since her death and so anything that mentions death or dying has an impact on my family. So when 1,000 Places To See Before You Die arrived in our mailbox a few weeks ago, I wasn’t sure how my mother would react.

1,000 Places To See Before You Die

1,000 Places to See Before You Die is far more than a travel guide! As you read about each location. Patricia Schultz explains why you should visit the place and also provides the important information such as websites, phone numbers, and the best time to place a visit! It’s definitely a bucket list type book for those who love to travel and explore. It would make a great Father’s Day gift for the Dad who loves to learn about the world and plan fabulous trips for his family!

My family hasn’t been to many of the places in the book but my mom fell in love with it when she learned that we had it to review. She sat with my aunt in the front yard playing a little game they created. They would just open the book to a page to see where they should travel next! It might seem like a silly game, but I loved seeing my mom have such a good time. My sister was always intrigued with the idea of travel and I will never forget when she got the chance to visit Australia when she was about 12. It was an adventure that she always talked about. We’d always hoped to go together sometime.

1,000 Places To See Before You Die

Most of the travel I have done has been in the United States although I’ve been to Germany and Canada. I enjoyed the United States of America section of the book. One of my goals is to visit every state at least once and the book has given me some fantastic ideas! I was also excited to see a few of my favorite places mentioned in the book. I’ve traveled to San Francisco (and would love to go again) and have also been to every Colorado location listed in the book! I would definitely recommend all of them if you want to visit Colorado. It’s not just about skiing! I’ve also been to Walt Disney World, Chicago, the Las Vegas Strip (another one of my sister’s favorite places), New York City, the Heart of Charleston, and the Biltmore in Asheville, North Carolina! I was thrilled to see that I had been to at least a few of the places in the book. I do need to hit up a few more of the local Texas places though. So even though I’m not anywhere near the 1,000, I have started!

1,000 Places To See Before You Die is a wonderful addition to any home library and will definitely come in handy when you’re trying to plan trips and need some more information on possible destinations. It would also make a great gift book for the father who is interested in travel or geography and learning more about the world.

There may be 1,000 Places to See Before You Die but where would you like to travel before you die?
