The other day my son handed me a toy cell phone and quoted a television commercial that has been on a lot recently. Later I caught him with my phone in hand, swiping from screen to screen without hesitation. Grambo and I have been taking advantage of the Walmart Family Mobile plan Unlimited Talk Text and Data/Web so I don’t worry about him using my minutes or data.
Whether I like it or not (and I really don’t mind much), my kids are going to grow up with technology. Smartphones are just ordinary for a three-year old. I cannot imagine how young he’ll be when he starts asking for his own. But until then, I end up sharing my phone with him quite often. Sometimes I offer it and sometimes I discover that he has nabbed it without my knowledge. This is why I recently used some tax money to invest in a few must-have smartphone accessories for mom!
3 Must Have Smartphone Accessories for Mom
To be honest, when I first switched to Walmart Family Mobile I was focused on the lowest priced unlimited plans because we were on the hunt for a way to stay connected with our family and friends for less. Adding a new baby to the mix had us looking to trim costs wherever we could.
We switched a few months back and haven’t looked back! Grambo was able to get a very affordable new smartphone and I was able to upgrade my phone to a brand new Samsung Galaxy S4 that I had my eye on for quite a while.
Fast forward a few months to a gorgeous afternoon outside with my kids. I was just enjoying the sunshine while I watched W play on his new play set. And that’s when I heard him talking on the phone. But it wasn’t just the play phone from his playhouse! It was my phone! And that was when I knew that some of our tax money would be going towards a few treats for me.
So I headed back to Walmart to see what there was available to protect my new phone. I was thrilled with the choices available! I needed a case that would be easy to use, not break the bank, and would protect my phone from little hands. I had no problem finding something I liked for my phone. Plus it was so simple to be able to buy everything I would need to switch to Walmart Family Mobile all in one place.
So what are my 3 must have smartphone accessories as a mom? What was worthy of spending my tax money on this year?
- A heavy duty case. On the top of my list was a phone case that would protect it from W. He likes to play games on my phone and watch videos. So knowing that it would be protected was essential. Oh, and I have a tendency to drop my phone from time to time too. Oops!
- Arm band and earbuds. I’m working on taking off the baby weight and I use my phone to track my walks and for music while I’m working out. So I needed a good armband and earbuds for my new phone.
- Apps, apps, and more apps. I have a number of game apps that I’m slightly addicted to and they have proven to be good entertainment during middle of the night feedings with C. But I cannot live without my photo apps to catch all of the wonderful moments with my little ones.
Now my phone has pretty much become communication central for me. I can check my email, message with family and friends, check my bank account, play games, and take photos! It’s everything I need these days now that I have a great armband and cover that keeps it all safe.
Now it doesn’t scare me quite as much when I hear W shout, “Mommy, I got your pone!”
What is your must have accessory for your smartphone? Will you be spending your tax return on any phones or accessories?
