This back to school gift ideas post sponsored on behalf of Purell and Champions for Kids. All opinions and experiences are my own.
Back to school is a busy time. I’ve been sharing lots of ideas for ways to make the transition back to school easier from my perspective as a busy mom and a former teacher.
One thing that comes to mind at the beginning of the year is preparing for all the germs that the kids face when they all head back into the classroom together. So we decided to put together a healthy classroom kit to donate as part of our back to school gift ideas!
Back to School Gift Ideas: Healthy Classroom Kit
As a former teacher, many of my friends are still teaching. Back to school time is the perfect time for me to give back to them and show them how much I appreciate them. It’s also the time of year when other parents might be thinking about back to school gift ideas.
Did you know that hand hygiene is one of the most important things a person can do to help reduce the spread of germs? And since school-aged children spend most of their time in the same room, hand hygiene is so important to keep the germs at bay and keep them healthy!
I always had a large bottle of PURELL® Hand Sanitizer in my classroom but often found myself needing one when we were outside on the playground or waiting in line after a fire drill. Kids always seem to be getting into something. I even keep some in my car and purse these days!
When it comes to back to school gifts for the teacher, I was always all about practical things. Any supplies that I could use in the classroom were fabulous. So when we started gathering some supplies to donate to one of my teaching friends, I knew I wanted to give her a little something special along with the basics.
So we put together a Healthy Classroom Kit!
When I was in the classroom my life was all about bandages and hand sanitizer! We had to pack a bag to take outside with us for emergency drills and I will admit that at the beginning of the year it was never on the top of my priority list. So I figured that putting together a little kit that could travel would be perfect for keeping things in the classroom (and outside) healthy!
What you need:
- PURELL® Hand Sanitizer
- Lip balm
- Baby wipes or other wipes
- Small bag that travels well (can be thrown in a larger bag with other supplies)
It’s so easy to gather smaller sizes of these supplies and put them in a cute bag so your teacher will always have them on hand! It’s just one of the practical and cute back to school gift ideas that I dreamed up and wish that I had received when I was teaching.
So why did we do this?
Champions for Kids Purell Lend a Hand Program
For millions of American children living in poverty, starting school on the right foot can be a challenge. One of my favorite organizations, Champions for Kids, is partnering with PURELL® Hand Sanitizer and Walmart to make sure that kids have the supplies they need for back to school with the PURELL® Lend a Hand Program.
Having worked as a special education teacher in a low income school I know that extra supplies are always needed. So I wanted to do something to help out my fellow special ed teachers get started on the right foot this year. I have a special place in my heart for special education students and want to support them in any way that I can.
So we gathered a bunch of school supplies for the classroom and also put together some Healthy Classroom Kits and took them over to the school.
I love teaching W from a young age that it is fun and fulfilling to help others!
