One of the things J and I want to do is travel a lot with the kids. He has fond memories of taking a family road trip each year. It’s a tradition we have started with our own family. Some trips are longer than others but it’s all about hitting the road together and preparing for a family road trip!
Problems Before the Family Road Trip
So on our first road trip as a family of five, I made lists and lists of things to make sure we were ready to make the drive from Houston to Orlando. And to make that drive with a three-year old and six month old! I didn’t want to end up hours down the road and have forgotten something basic. So I was all about the list making.
And I’m pretty sure I had our van packed as tight as we could with our bags, snacks, diapers, toys, and anything else I could think of.
But there was one thing I wasn’t prepared for as we entered the final hours before we hit the road.
The low tire pressure light.
It was the day before we were set to wake up early and hit the road to Florida. And the light was glaring at me. With hours of driving and hundreds of miles ahead of us, I couldn’t ignore it. My fingers were crossed that we just needed a little air.
As I sat waiting for the service tech at the dealership, I ran through my lists of things in my mind to make sure we had everything packed.
The look on the tech’s face when he came to the waiting area had my mind forgetting all of those lists. The news wasn’t good. A nail in the tire.
But that wasn’t all. They didn’t have the tire in stock.
We were leaving town in less than 24 hours! While I love my dealership, something had to be done.
That’s where Discount Tire came to the rescue yet again. In the past I’d gotten some great deals on new sets of tires on my older cars so it was the place I knew could help me.
And I wasn’t disappointed.
I learned that I could have skipped the dealership and headed straight to Discount Tire! They can trouble shoot your TPMS (tire) light at any of their stores so instead of going to the dealership and then heading to Discount Tire, you can just go straight to Discount Tire to avoid making two stops!
After a slow drive over to the nearest store, I was assured they had the tire I needed in stock and that they could have it changed in about 20 minutes. For a busy mom preparing to take the family on vacation, this was a huge relief! The were able to show me more information about my tire’s issue and advise me on the best choice for a new tire. But they didn’t pressure me to purchase anything I didn’t want to buy!
Once again, Discount Tire came to my rescue and we were able to hit the road the next morning with all four tires ready to roll!
You can learn more about Discount Tire and see how they might be able to help you keep your car’s tires in top shape so you don’t have to face the stress I did!
