Best Strawberry Banana Smoothie Recipe
When it comes to smoothies, if it has strawberries and bananas in it, I’m set. It’s one of my favorite flavor combinations but I like to get creative too. It’s fun to try different additions and find the best strawberry banana smoothie recipe!
There are five things I love about smoothies:
- They are so easy to make!
- They’re tasty!
- They’re super kid friendly!
- They’re a great option for a quick breakfast, snack, and great for snacks on the go too!
- They’re a great way to pack in some nutrition (and fun!)
Nutrition is more than counting calories; it’s about making each calorie count. We depend on dairy to help us out with that. Dairy foods (cow’s milk, cheese, yogurt, etc.) pack a powerful nutrient punch with nine essential nutrients! That makes them a healthy and delicious choice.
At 8 grams of protein per glass, you would have to drink 8 cups of almond milk to match the protein in just 1 cup of cow’s milk. And when you buy cow’s milk by the gallon, each glass costs only about a quarter! It’s a pretty good option for most families, including ours!
So what secret ingredient did we discover makes the best strawberry banana smoothie recipe?
The secret ingredient is CHOCOLATE MILK! It’s that simple to turn my favorite strawberry banana smoothie into a chocolate banana strawberry smoothie! We also call it our banana split smoothie!
Chocolate Banana Strawberry Smoothie Ingredients
- 1 cup chocolate milk
- 3/4 cup (6 oz) vanilla (or plain) yogurt
- 1 large banana, sliced and frozen
- 1.5 cups of frozen strawberries
This will make about two 8 ounce smoothies.
If you want to make it even more fun (and really turn it into the best strawberry banana smoothie recipe), you can also add pineapple, nuts, chocolate syrup, whipped cream, and a cherry on top!
How to Make a Strawberry Banana Smoothie with Chocolate Milk
- Be sure to slice and freeze your banana ahead of time. If you have a fresh fruit, you will want to add ice.
- Place all of your ingredients in the blender.
- Blend until smooth!
If you want to add additional ingredients to your chocolate banana strawberry smoothie, add them before you blend. We kept this week’s smoothie a bit more on the simple side but it’s fun to top it with whipped cream and a cherry too! (The kids love it for dessert!)
We love that smoothies are a nutrient-rich option that can include dairy, fruit, vegetables, and whole grains, all blended in one yummy glass. It makes it easy for everyone!
