World Play-Doh Day is part of an Influencer Activation on behalf of Influence Central for Hasbro. I received product samples to facilitate my review as well as a promotional item to thank me for my participation.
Play-Doh. That sure brings back memories! It was invented in the mid 1950’s and I was born in 1953, so you know I spent many hours with this toy. I got to play with it at home and at school. So when I learned that September 16 was World Play-Doh Day, I felt the urge to celebrate.
Celebrate World Play-Doh Day!
My grandson, Weston, is 4 years old and he loves Play-Doh as much as me. So Grambo (that’s me) decided to show him a thing or two about its many uses. We are hoping to get our creations on the World Play-Doh Day Facebook parade. So now we had to brainstorm about what we would make that would show off our national pride.
After tossing around a few different ideas we made a decision. Good, old-fashioned cherry pie! Rolling our Play-Doh cherries was one of the biggest parts of the project but we had a blast! When we were done Weston lined them all up and counted them. We had 52 cherries! That’s a lot of cherries! Then we rolled out our “pie crust” and put it in a small pie pan so Weston could add the cherries. Mariah couldn’t resist the fun and jumped in to help make the lattice crust. And our masterpiece came to life!
It looks good enough to eat, doesn’t it?
World Play-Doh Day
World Play-Doh is happening on September 16th! And Hasbro (the maker of Play-Doh) invites you to join in the celebration! It’s a day celebrate this favorite part of so many childhood memories. Share a can with your kids and grandkids and revel in squishing, molding, rolling, cutting, extruding and laughing together.
Sculpt your favorite landmark, cultural icon or patriotic symbol and share directly to the official Play-Doh Facebook page wall between August 16th and September 14th. No brand names, pop culture icons, or characters, please. And please keep them kid-friendly too! You can submit as many sculpts as you like and encourage your friends and family to join in the fun too!
Then check back on September 16th to see if your sculpt was chosen. Selected sculpts will be featured in the #WorldPlayDohDay Parade on the Play-Doh Facebook page that day!
Make this the best national (and world) day ever!
Fun Fact: Two billion cans of Play-Doh have been sold. If you shaped them all into one big ball, it would weigh as much as 2,000 Statues of Liberty.
