Cloth Diaper Review: Glow Bug Cloth Diapers

glow bug cloth diapersI first discovered Glow Bug Cloth Diapers when I was researching lesser known diaper makers that offer affordability in the cloth diapering world. Sarah of Glow Bug Cloth Diapers began her journey into cloth diapering when her oldest daughter was a toddler. As she continued on her journey, all she wanted were good quality, affordable cloth diapers but was frustrated that the product she was looking for did not seem to exist. So she took matters into her own hands and now wants to help other families who want to use cloth diapers but are intimidated by the cost of investing  in good quality diapers.

We had the opportunity to try one of the newly redesign Glow Bug diapers. We actually reviewed a sample before all of the great new prints arrived. I love cute prints and if I ever got another Glow Bug diaper, it would be a major challenge to decide which prints to get! If you’re looking for affordable diapers and cute prints, you should definitely check out Glow Bug Cloth Diapers!

Glow Bug Cloth DiapersThe diaper we received was white which can be useful at times but sometimes can be kind of boring compared to other diapers in our stash. The turquoise snaps definitely set it apart from other white diapers we have so I am fond of it.

Glow Bug Cloth Diapers have a number of great features including:

  • Two sets of cross-over snaps on waist band
  • Double rows of snaps with square tabs for a trim fit through the hip
  • Four size settings for more sizing options
  • Double gusset through the leg for an extra barrier of protection
  • NEW SlimDry™ fabric keeps baby’s skin dry without the bulk
  • Two openings in the pocket makes it easier to stuff and remove the insert
  • Snap-in inserts keep it in place

Glow Bug Cloth DiapersWith the more affordable diapers, it can be hit or miss as I have learned from my experience. I was pleasantly surprised by how well this diaper fit W. It has a generous number of snaps at the waist and to adjust the rise. This meant that the diaper got big enough to fit my big guy but also has enough options that it would fit babies of various sizes. I am interested to see how it fits on a newborn so I will definitely be hanging onto this diaper for the next baby.

The Glow Bug diaper is very trim fitting but the pocket opening is also extremely generous so I had no trouble adding extra inserts to increase the absorbency. As I mentioned before, this diaper fit W well. It has a higher rise which works well on him as he is tall for his edge. We also got a nice snug fit around the legs without any marks from the elastic. As W has gotten more mobile, the Glow Bug diaper has held up well without any leaks or blowouts (thank goodness for gussets!) s0 it’s been through the ringer and is surviving nicely! This diaper is definitely at the top of all of the more “affordable” diaper brands we have tried.

The one downside of these diapers is that they are currently only available in snaps. If you’re a hook and loop fan then you may not like these, but if you’re willing to try snaps Glow Bug is an affordable way to try them out. They definitely come in handy from time to time! These diapers are currently only available in packs of 12 but I’m hoping they will offer individual diapers or smaller packs in the future! I would love to get some of their prints to add to my stash but I definitely do not need a dozen more diapers right now!

Glow Bug Cloth Diapers are a great way to build a starter stash or to grow your stash if you’re looking for some more diapers. You can purchase a set of 12 cloth diapers for $150 on the Glow Bug website. For $150 you will receive 12 diapers, 24 inserts, and a coordinating wet bag! This works out to be less than $13 a diaper! If you would like to learn more about Glow Bug Cloth Diapers, you can visit the Glow Bug website or get connected on Facebook or Twitter! They often announce sample offers so I highly recommend following them!
