Coffee Mate Makes Indulgence Affordable
During the holiday season, I enjoy a little indulgence when it comes to food and drink. There are some things that just make it feel like the holidays around here. My mother-in-law’s homemade candy is definitely one of those things. Hot chocolate and holiday coffee drinks from a certain coffee shop also make the list. But those drinks can take a chunk out of our budget if we get carried away! So I decided to indulge at home and save money at the same time with Nestle Coffee Mate!
J often makes breakfast on Sunday mornings and he is a pancake pro. But I have been brainstorming ideas for our Christmas morning breakfast. I wanted something indulgent and special. With the special day right around the corner, a trial run was definitely in order!
So I set out to create some special holiday drinks that would save us money!
Coffee and Hot Chocolate Indulgences
At Walmart, I picked up the French Vanilla and Peppermint Mocha Nestle Coffee Mate creamer flavors. You can see my entire shopping trip in my #UltimateCup Google+ album. My plan was to use the French Vanilla in the french toast casserole and the Peppermint Mocha in our drinks. But J had other ideas! He easily used the French Vanilla Coffee Mate combined with a caramel flavored coffee and some whipped cream to make himself a holiday drink!
We also learned that when you’re not feeling well, it’s a lot easier to make a drink at home rather than go out! Yes, the next day the flu hit our home. So we have been enjoying a number of hot drinks to help make the sick ones feel a bit better. So this easy French Vanilla Caramel Coffee was perfect!
So instead of dropping at least $4-5 on a coffee at the coffee shop, for $2 I picked up a bottle of Nestle Coffee Mate and between Grambo and J they have already used it in a least 10 cups of coffee and tea!
My favorite winter and holiday drink is hot chocolate. And adding peppermint to anything makes it scream holidays to me. So instead of paying for a cup of hot chocolate, I decided to make my own with a little help from Nestle Coffee Mate. I was a bit nervous about the Mocha side of the Peppermint Mocha flavor.
But I had no need to worry! All you have to do is make your hot chocolate as you normally would. Then add a splash of Coffee Mate and either marshmallows or whipped cream (or both)! And your tastebuds will think that a barista was serving you. I’ll admit that this is my new holiday addiction.
Making our own drinks saves us money and is also much more convenient. Our own coffee maker or microwave is a lot easier than making a coffee run! I’ll tell you that W is not a fan of coffee shops… not yet at least!
French Toast Casserole
So I’m pretty sure we’ll be enjoying some hot chocolate and coffee on Christmas day. Those are givens and we love the Coffee Mate creations we created. But I still needed to test drive the french toast casserole recipe I was considering for Christmas breakfast. I loved that it sounded so easy to make.
I was inspired by my friend Danielle’s Overnight French Toast recipe. And with a few tweaks, I was ready to make my own version!
We have a winner! J loves french toast and his mom used to make it for Christmas breakfast. So this one is definitely in the running for our a new tradition. Combined with our affordable drinks, we enjoyed a delicious trial run for Christmas morning!
You can save money and try some of your own drink creations using Nestle coupons at Walmart. You can also check out the wide variety of Nestle Coffee Mate flavors that are available! You can also connect with Coffee Mate on Facebook and on Twitter @Coffee_Mate!
