As part of my trip with Disney for the #GotGVol2Event, we had the opportunity take a Dancing with the Stars dance lesson with Dancing with the Stars Troupe! I received a most-expense paid trip in exchange for coverage of the event.
If you’re a Dancing with the Stars fan, you’ll want to know more about these amazing dancers!
Dancing with the Stars Dance Lesson
I have to admit that while I’m a fan of Dancing with the Stars, I never thought much about things like all those amazing dancers in the larger group numbers or how dancers who fill in might prepare for that!
Enter the Dancing with the Stars Troupe.
The troupe is a group of talented dancers who perform on every episode in special dance bits and as back-up dancers with the celebrities and professionals. Sometimes they’re called to fill in for an injured dance pro as well!
This season troupe member Alan Bersten subbed in for dance pro Maksim Chmerkovskiy. He danced with actress Heather Morris while Maks was healing from an injury! If you missed Alan on the show, trust me — he was amazing!
We had the chance to meet troupe members Alan Bersten, Brittany Cherry, Britt Stewart, Hayley Erbert, Brandon Stewart, and the newest member Artur Adamski!
If you’re wondering how much personality Alan Bersten has off camera compared to on camera, you won’t be disappointed. He was so welcoming to all of us as we arrived at the dance studio (many of us with a bit of apprehension running through our heads), keeping the mood light.
The troupe assured us that we would be just fine when it came to learning a little dance combination.
After getting to chat with the troupe, it was time for our Dancing with the Stars dance lesson! Growing up, I was very involved in musical theater, so I’ve taken a fair share of dance classes.
But that was 20 years ago so I have to admit that I was nervous. The troupe members were so supportive and positive that it made it easy to relax and just have fun!
We started out as a large group to learn some basic salsa steps while the troupe cheered us on the entire time!
Then I was lucky to have the opportunity to learn the rest of the combination from the newest member of the Dancing with the Stars dance troupe — Artur Adamski! He recently joined the cast (during Disney week) so watch for him in the large group numbers and in some of the numbers into between the professional and celebrity dances.
He was an amazing teacher with a passion for dance that was infectious! He had me believing I could do any step he threw in my direction!
I think we did okay for a group of bloggers who haven’t had much dance experience! Salsa is hard! I have even more respect for those celebrities who take on the Dancing with the Stars experience!
Be sure to tune in to Dancing with the Stars on Monday night at 8pm ET/7pm CT on ABC! Check out what’s in store for this week’s episode!
This week the celebrities compete against each other in team dances! It’s men versus women with Backstreet Boys’ Nick Carter as a judge!
