I’m sharing some of our easy baseball mom tips with help from #Tide as part of a Tide sponsored series for Socialstars™.
As part of our partnership with Tide, we shared our tips for how to wash LuLaRoe clothing with help from Tide to keep our favorite pieces looking great longer. I adore wearing my LuLaRoe, but it’s only one side of me. The other side of me is one I just discovered about a year ago.
Her name is baseball mom.
Easy Baseball Mom Tips for Sports Laundry
Baseball season is in full swing around here and I’ve heard a lot of baseball mom tips already this season. Not many have to do with the laundry, but I know it’s something all of us deal with when we get home from the big game.
Weston has been playing baseball for two years but it was only last fall that he started playing T-Ball where they kept score and tracked the standings. Yep, this is the year when it really got real and I discovered that I had a bit of a competitive side to me.
It’s true, I wanted to see our boys win. Last season was a rough one for us but many of the same kids returned to the team for spring baseball so it’s been a blast see them grow as individual players and as a team. We’re really improving!
One thing that hasn’t changed since the day he started playing K-Ball (which is basically T-Ball but with no score or outs) is that Weston is all boy when it comes to his uniform and I’m all about cleaning baseball pants!
So I’ve learned some easy baseball mom tips for how to wash baseball pants and the rest of the uniform to keep Weston looking sharp out on the field. But first I have to admit that the past two seasons, I was so thankful that he ended up with gray pants instead of white! Still I mastered keeping his whites bright and clean those first two seasons too!
Baseball Mom Tips for Cleaning Baseball Pants
When it comes to how to wash baseball pants, I quickly learned that it could be as easy as taking care of the rest of our clothes. Even with the fact that he does come home with the red dirt of the baseball diamond covering him and a few grass stains if he’s played in the field. It doesn’t take much more to keep his jersey and pants looking great for the entire season!
Rinse and Soak
After most games, I can actually just throw Weston’s entire uniform into the washing machine with Tide® PODS™ Plus Downy® and it comes out looking great. But sometimes we have a day where he just seems to be on the ground in the dirt and grass for the entire game!
That’s what I call a rinse and soak kind of game! When things get really dirty, I shake his uniform out first to try and shake off as much of the dirt as I can. Then I rinse it in cool water to try and get even more off.
Depending on the type of stain I’m dealing with, I do things a little bit different.
- Grass Stains – Soak in warm water with a bit of liquid laundry detergent and baking soda for at least an hour.
- Blood Stains – Soak in COLD water so that the stain doesn’t get set in.
- Extra Tough Red Dirt – Soak in warm water and then treat with a stain pre-treater.
Into the Washing Machine
Honestly, since I’ve started using Tide® PODS™ Plus Downy® laundry detergent pacs, I don’t have to soak as often. I trust in the HE Turbo technology that provides 6x the cleaning power in half the time (compared to 6 doses of leading bargain brand liquid detergent, base variant)!
I always wash his uniform pieces alone, leaving the rest of our usual laundry for its own load later on.
The 4-in-1 laundry pacs clean, brighten, fight stains and protect our clothes every time we wash them which means cleaning baseball pants has gotten a lot easier this season!
If you’re using the Tide® PODS™ Plus Downy® laundry detergent pacs, I have some baseball mom tips to make sure you’re using them the right way! I actually had to change the way I was doing laundry because you don’t have to fill any detergent containers in your washing machine or anything!
Always make sure the PODS go in BEFORE the clothes do!
That’s my trick! And if you happen to have a large load (like with your regular laundry) throw in 2 Tide® PODS™ Plus Downy® to make sure everything comes out clean and fresh!
(Remember, like all household products, keep out of reach of children!)
Hang to Dry
One of the best sports mom tips for laundry that I have is to hang everything to dry. Don’t put your sports uniforms in the dryer!
If you need to dry it quicker than hanging it up, stick with tumble drying it on low. But I’ve found the best bet is to hang everything dry and keep it out of direct sunlight.
That’s how we keep all of the colors looking bright, avoid setting in any missed stains, and avoid any shrinkage!
With Tide PODS® Plus Downy, our washing machine has been turned into a safe place that cleans, conditions, protects the clothing we love!
I love that they clean and condition in one step and protect our clothes from damage in the wash! It makes doing the baseball laundry so easy. After I’m done with cleaning baseball pants, I can fill the washer up with 2 Tide PODS® Plus Downy and then add that big load of our regular laundry.
Then figure out who is going to fold all that laundry!
