Justin has been talking about getting a grill for a few years. Last year we’re finally did it and got him a new grill for our back deck. It’s been an amazing addition and it’s perfect for summer. Summer is definitely cookout season around here so I’ve pulled together some easy BBQ ideas to show you just how simple and delicious it can be!
Easy BBQ Ideas for Summer
Sometimes I can get a little carried away with planning and suddenly instead of it just being a great way to spend time with friends and family, a cookout seems like a huge undertaking. This summer I’m doing my best to keep things fun and simple around our house. And having a BBQ is actually a great way to do that! Check out what I did recently to make it so easy and fun!
The last thing you want to do after spending time with your friends and family is spend hours cleaning! So opt for things like paper plates and bowls, plastic cups, and silverware that everyone can just toss when they’re done! It makes the clean up side of things go so much quicker! The less dishes to clean, the more willing I am to throw another get together. I don’t think I’m alone in that either!
When it comes to the food, once you decide what you want to serve, go for it! If you’re a grillmaster, you probably have tons of ways you like to prepare your food for the grill. But if you’re more of a beginner, there are some great products available that make grilling easy and interesting with a variety of flavors!
Our current favorites include al fresco chicken sausages and gourmet chicken grillers. They have given us a great way to mix up the flavor profiles when we BBQ! I love a good burger or steak but sometimes I want something a bit different!
al fresco has some great burger options with four delicious flavors including:
- Buffalo Style with Blue Cheese
- Caramelized Onion
- Lightly Seasoned
- Sweet Italian Style
Or if you’re a chicken sausage fan like Grambo (she loves it!), al fresco has six different flavors, including:
- Sweet Italian Style
- Roasted Garlic & Herb
- Buffalo Style
- Hot Italian Style
- Sweet Apple
- Spicy Chipotle
As a mom trying to make good food choices for the family, I love that the chicken sausages have 70% less fat and 30% less sodium than pork sausage, while al fresco’s chicken grillers have 50% less fat than a traditional beef burger!
My biggest tip for making your BBQ easy for you is to put aside the idea that everything needs to be homemade. Side dishes do not have to be homemade! Take advantage of the offerings in the deli department of your local store. We picked up some of my favorite kale salad and even tried a new potato salad our deli was offering. Add in a dessert from the bakery section as well as some of our favorite hamburger buns and dinner was ready!
All we had to do was grill up our burgers and sausage and we were ready to eat!
The key to making it easy is to keep it simple. Of course, if you want to go all out and make tons of homemade side dishes, be sure to invite me over! But it doesn’t have to be that complicated. Trust me. As long as you have plenty of food and someone manning the grill, your friends and family will have a good time!
Summer cookouts are really all about spending time together and making memories!
With a little help from al fresco this summer, I know we’ll be having many more BBQ hangouts! I love putting Justin on grill duty and then setting out the rest of the food. It means this mom can relax a bit more knowing everyone is well fed and having a good time!
