Let’s be honest, whether we love them or not, there are chores that need to be done to keep our houses in shape. Around our house, certain chores like dusting often get put off with priority given to the bigger things like mopping and organization (of toys usually). But anyone in the family can help with chores like dusting and with easy dusting tips, it’s one chore than can be a breeze to stay on top of!
Easy Dusting Tips (for the Whole Family!)
Dusting is actually a chore that is great to get the kids involved in. We’ve been using Bona Disposable Dusting Cloths to make it even more effective to have them help too! I’ll share more on that in a bit because it was a recent game changer! But first, check out some of our other easy dusting tips to get everyone involved!
Start at the Top
I have to admit that it took me a while to figure out something that I think is pretty logical. Which is why I’m sharing it here! When you’re dusting in a room, start up high and work your way down!
As you dust, the dust that doesn’t get caught falls down, right? So starting up high only makes sense. But I spent a lot of time starting with bigger projects (like baseboards) and then working up on higher shelves. Oops!
So when we’re all dusting together, I usually get the kids working on one area of the room where they can do the bookshelves and toy bins that are up a bit higher before we move down to areas like the baseboards.
Care for the Electronics
The electronics need as much dusting as everything else (if not more). In our house, it works great to assign Justin to electronics duty. I know he’ll unplug things and dust with care (while the kids might not be as careful as we’d like). It’s an area I definitely think an adult (or older child) should handle but is a great job for the technology lover in your family! If you have someone who takes pride in having the latest gadgets, put them in charge of keeping them dusted!
Floors Made Easy
So I first tried our Bona Disposable Dusting Cloths hoping it would make tackling a daily sweep of our wood and tile floors easier. With the amount of dust, dirt, and pet hair they pick up compared to what I had been using, I know I’m getting everything cleaner without spending more time. So then I decided to try them on other items like the ceiling fans, electronics, and just general dusting.
Yes. Yes. Yes.
So, I’m going to be open and show my dirty floor. Check out what living with two kids and two dogs creates. Oh, and add in running an in-home clothing boutique with little threads appearing from everywhere it seems!
And then the after with just one sweep past the baseboard! I could see the difference in one sweep!
And then in true confession time, check out what my Bona Disposable Dusting Cloth looked like when I took it off after a full tour of the living room, dining room, office and entry way of our house! And I clean the floors regularly around our house! I’m pretty sure Bona just upped my game!
I mentioned them before because they’ve become a regular part of our cleaning and dusting routine. Bona Disposable Dusting Cloths have made it so easy to get the entire family involved. Even the dogs try to help but I’m not convinced they’re quite ready yet.
Why am I suddenly raving about these Bona Disposable Dusting Cloths? They feature a 3D design that locks away dust, dirt and pet hair. With two kids and two dogs, this is a must for me to feel like things are really getting clean! It helps us clean almost two times faster and works on hardwood floors, stone, tile, and laminate floors! That means I can use them in any room of our house!
Around the Edges
Don’t forget to dust around the edges! This means those pesky places like baseboards, door frames, and window sills. I think they’re magnets for dust and I’m not great at remembering them. So when I do, it’s a little scary. Oh, and ceiling fans! If you have ceiling fans, just make a list or something so you don’t forget them! Or start with them first since they are up high and the perfect home for all those dust bunnies!
Do It Often
Another thing I’ve learned from experience is that doing the dusting regularly makes it less of a chore. With help from the Bona Disposable Dusting Cloths and adding dusting into our chore rotation to keep it happening on a regular basis, it takes far less time than when I would suddenly realize that every room in the house needed a good dusting!
So add it to your routine and get everyone helping! You’ll have dusting done in no time! Unless you let the dog help and then it might take a little bit longer!
