Family Friendly Lunch Leftover Ideas
Now that I work at home, sometimes I find myself stuck when it comes to making lunch for myself. This used to happen when I worked outside of the house too. Sometimes it was just a drag to figure out a week worth of lunches for work.
Leftovers to the rescue! With a list of lunch leftover ideas based on some of our favorite dinner menus, putting my lunch together whether at home or work became so much easier!
There are two things you have to tackle when working on preparing your lunch leftover ideas. The first is a list of your family’s favorite dinners that also make good leftovers because not everything does! The second is good containers to out your leftovers in to take to work!
On our last trip to Walmart, I picked up a great solution for our lunch leftover ideas! The new Reynolds™ Disposable Heat & Eat Containers. The containers are so easy to use! You just fill them up, put the lid on, and you’re ready to go. Then you can take off the lid and heat it up at lunch! It’s that easy!
You can get your own Reynolds™ Disposable Heat & Eat Containers at your local Walmart too. We found ours in food storage aisle by the Reynolds Wrap and on an end cap! Print this coupon to save $1 before you go! Who doesn’t love to save a bit?
Lunch Leftover Ideas
So what kind of dinners make the best lunch leftovers? Here are a few of our favorites:
- Peppers and Sausage Macaroni and Cheese
- Mexican Pasta Bake
- Slow Cooker Spaghetti
- Slow Cooker Cheeseburger Casserole
The most important thing is that it’s a dish that reheats well. If you’re working in an office setting, you want something that can easily eat at your desk (and with plastic utensils if that’s what you have)! I also think it’s important to focus on meals that are one dish. I don’t like taking multiple containers and having to deal with them. I want everything to work in one container like the Reynolds™ Disposable Heat & Eat Containers.
The other night we had some fish filets with macaroni and cheese for dinner. I made a batch of slow cooker macaroni and cheese because there is always enough leftover for lunches the next day. Carrigan is a huge fan of it too so it works as lunch for all of us. Justin will take some to work with him too!
It was easy to divide up the leftovers into Reynolds™ Disposable Heat & Eat Containers and have everything ready for lunch! Everyone can grab their container and go! It’s convenient and easy which is what I’m all about in the morning when I’m preparing for the day!
