Fall is such a busy time for us and even though holiday season seems to kick it into high gear, we stopped to make time for family game night. It’s important to take time as a family together, especially this time of year. So we made a date and had family game night snacks, competition, and fun!
Family Game Night Snacks and Fun
There are two big decisions you have to make when it comes to family game night. The first is all about the games and the second is all about the family game night snacks. Once your family figures out the answers to those questions, you’re golden!
Choosing a Game
Obviously, when it comes to family game night, choosing a game is the first step. It can be a challenge too! One of the best tips we have for you is to take turns. That ways everyone gets to pick a game at some point. If you have a weekly family game night, let a different person choose the game each week.
If you don’t have family game nights as often, think about choosing more than one game to play if you have time.
Then let different family members each choose a game. Weston was in charge of choosing a game for our family game night and he went with a brand new game for us — Hedbanz! He’d never played before but I was family with this great game from Spin Master! Hedbanz is a question game where you try to guess what is on the picture card you’re wearing on your head! This is a great game for Weston because he loves to ask questions. Once he figured out his picture, he got rid of a chip and the first play to get rid of all of their chips won.
I’ll admit that Weston was the winner when we played! Did we let him win? Perhaps but no matter who won, it was a blast to play Hedbanz with him and hear all the fun questions he came up with! I loved seeing him take time to really think of questions that might help him figure out his card.
Of course, we all laughed a lot because the questions weren’t always serious!
Family Game Night Snacks
So once you have picked out your games, it’s time to figure out what you’re going to eat! Pizza is always a great option because it’s easy! But if you’re looking for a fun treat to have while you play, we love making our own popcorn snack mix!
Why is this one of our go-to family game night snacks? It’s easy and everyone can make something they enjoy! All you have to do is get some microwave popcorn and some other things to add into your popcorn. We love chocolate chips and marshmallows (S’mores popcorn) and the kids like almost any kind of candy!
Set your ingredients out on the table and let everyone mix up their own bowl of sweet and salty popcorn!
Then have a blast at your family game night!
