With the school year back in session, many parents are getting reaquainted with the idea of homework. After having a few months off during the summer, it takes some time to get back into the swing of things. And there can be some anxiety over homework for both kids and parents. Luckily there are some great support options available these days including the Homework Help Desk!
Get Schooled: Homework Help Desk
As a former teacher, I know that homework time can be difficult for some families. As kids get older, parents sometimes lack their ability to provide the guidance and support that their kids might need. With The Common Core State Standards, kids are learning new concepts and new strategies that we might not have experience with from our own education. It means that parents have to learn right along with the kids these days!
Luckily there are organizations like Get Schooled here to help! It is a national non-profit that believes that with the right information and motivation, students have the power to improive their feature. This year one of their main projects is the Homework Help Desk.
The Homework Help Desk
The Homework Help Desk is a new website that is designed to help 7th through 12th graders and their parents with challenging homework. It includes math, science, and English with the goal to help parents get the knowledge and support they need to be able to help their kids!
You can search by grade or by subject or browse through the instructional videos. My favorite feature is the option to get one-on-one help from a trained teacher. When I was teaching, I tried to be available to help my parents support their students. It’s a great asset to have!
