Hickory Farms Holiday Traditions

Hickory Farms Holiday Traditions

As I’ve mentioned over the past few weeks, I love holiday traditions. I have plans for many of them that I hope to start with my family over the years. But some traditions just seem to develop on their own as well. Some are old, some are new, and some I don’t even notice for a few years.

While I have continued the tradition of Christmas pajamas from my own childhood, Grambo and I have started another Christmas Eve tradition with W. We take him to see Santa on Christmas Eve morning in his Christmas pajamas. Then we all go out and enjoy breakfast together! It’s something we started his first Christmas when I got upset because I hadn’t taken my newborn baby to see Santa! I wanted to keep him healthy but also didn’t want to miss his first Christmas.

If you go when they first open on Christmas Eve, there is little to no line!

Another holiday tradition that has developed on its own involves Hickory Farms.

J loves him some Hickory Farms so when we had the chance to try theĀ Hickory Farms Pack and Go Picnic Tote, I jumped on it. I would have loved to be able to save it and surprise him with it on Christmas. But when it arrived, I had to check it out. And it was downhill from there. Once we have Hickory Farms products in our house, they never last long.

They are too good to resist!

Hickory Farms Holiday Gift Ideas for the Family

This Hickory Farms set is actually a fabulous gift for my entire family. J is a huge fan of the cheese and sausage. Along with the crackers, they were gone in just a few days! I think he had sausage and cheese for dinner one night when I wasn’t cooking. Grambo snagged the peanut brittle to enjoy with her hot tea as an evening snack.

And I fell in love with the peppermint cookies. I’m pretty sure I ate all four of them that came in the package. I was only going to try one each but then the next day no one else had eaten them so… it was all me! Grambo, W, and I also enjoyed the mini melt away mints. They are a candy that just reminds me of the holiday season.

Hickory Farms Treats for the Holidays

Oh look, there is evidence that I held a dark chocolate peppermint cookie in my hand. Doesn’t it look absolutely delicious? I can vouch for it. My taste buds thought Christmas had come early for sure! I couldn’t decide which I liked better either. The dark chocolate and white chocolate definitely have a different taste to each cookie but I loved them all!

I have a feeling I will be stopping by the Hickory Farms kiosk at the mall to pick up another gift set. It’s just too perfect of a gift for our family. I’m pretty sure it will be labeled for J, but dads have to share with everyone, right?

And I might just have to get some Holiday Petit Fours for myself! I’m sure I could start a new holiday tradition revolving around them.

My family has had a tradition of getting together for a big lasagna dinner on Christmas Eve. This year will be the first year I’ve missed it, since I just moved 1000 miles away.

Those peppermint cookies look SO good!!

One of my favorite traditions is baking holiday treats with my daughter, mom and sister. Decroating the tree and house while listening to music, going out to look at lights that night and coming home to watch Christmas movies while eating our treats!

This looks like a great treat box. I really am interested in trying the Turkey Sausage, and the cookies :)

My favorite holiday tradition growing up was how everyone would gather at my grandparents’ house each Christmas Eve (their 11 children, in-laws, grandkids, great-grandkids, and a few friends). After dinner, my grandfather would always read the story of the first Christmas aloud from his Bible.

  5. Jill A. Collins says

Hickory Farms is such a part of my early years. I remember when they still had storefronts in the malls and my mother and I would go buy the meltaway mints for stocking stuffers for the family. I love their food!

  7. Dianna Thomas says

Christmas basically starts –Thanksgivings night with family game playing, story telling, and choosing from each who it there the Christmas decorations that we make and share fore each other(my favorite part) then before everyone goes home we draw names –it gives us the oooo and aaaaawws–and thinking of one special person for Christmas to Make a gift for–Of course there are rules to this–nothing nasty, nothing mean, thoughfulness for only that 1 person, and it can’t be over the price of $10,00–all the little kids are included in this. Then we make or purchase one other gift for our Christmas Stealing Present Game–everyone loves that game..We are so competative on that game–that too have a $$ limit of $5.00..No one can afford Christmas — we just love to be together and have fun.
