How to Make Dinner Quick & Easy
Fall has settled in around here. It’s still pretty warm outside but we’re in the thick of busy family life with school back in session, baseball season kicking off, swim lessons, and birthday party season with our friends and family. We’re busier than we’ve been in the past few months. That’s why I’m all about ways to make dinner quick and easy so we can all share some time together!
Recently I came up with a new game plan that involves just some simple meal planning. I made a list of some of our favorite (easy) main dishes and a list of some of our favorite side dishes. Then I mixed and matched them into different combinations for the upcoming weeks. You can really make a lot of combinations with just a few main dish options and side dish options.
One of our favorite side dishes is Idahoan Signature Russets. I like them because their so easy to prep and my family loves them because they make every meal feel like we’re sitting down to a hearty “Sunday dinner” together. To me, that feeling of sitting down to a Sunday dinner means family time and memories made.
Check out some of our recent pairings! Three easy meals featuring Idahoan Signature Russets!
Steak & Potatoes
Steak and potatoes might sound like a meal that takes a bit of time. But I make dinner quick and easy this way by depending on our Idahoan Signature Russets, a steamer bag of vegetables, and some prepared steak strips from the grocery store. It means this hearty meal (Justin’s favorite) is ready in just minutes!
He’s a meat ad potatoes guy so he loves the taste of the new Signature Russet Mashed Potatoes. They have a smooth taste like original homemade mashed potatoes with just a hint of butter and cream. Perfect for pairing with steak or a roast!
Chicken & Potatoes
My kids can be picky eaters so I look for options I know will get them eating when we all sit down to dinner. I can bake chicken for us but my kids are all about the chicken nuggets. We often pair macaroni and cheese with chicken nuggets but lately my kids have been all about having mashed potatoes with them. I’m not arguing!
With this one, I pulled out a can of veggies from the pantry to go with the chicken nuggets and Idahoan Signature Russets mashed potatoes. Another meal ready in minutes! The new Idahoan Signature Russets can be made in only five minutes using milk and butter… or just water!
Fish & Potatoes
This goes along the lines of our chicken nuggets and potatoes because of the kid friendly factor. But for the adults I’ll often buy the fish fillets that I can bake up in the oven and make them with the fish sticks for the kids. But sometimes we all do fish sticks too! We love peas so I usually have a few cans or a steamer bag of frozen around which makes this another way to make dinner quick!
It’s really a breeze to make dinner quick and easy so you can all enjoy some time together, no matter what’s on your busy schedule.
How to Make Dinner Quick
- Make a list of 3-4 favorite main dishes that are quick and easy.
- Make a list of 3-4 favorite easy side dishes.
- Make a list of some vegetables your family enjoys that are also easy to prep (frozen and canned are great for this).
- Write down your main dishes in a piece of paper. Then alternate the sides. Then alternate the veggies.
And you’re ready to go!
The ease of prep (and the fact that everyone in the family loves them) is why the new Idahoan Signature Russets are on our list every week! They offer great value too because they come in a re-sealable pouch. That means they stay fresh and available for a Sunday mashed potatoes experience any day of the week. No matter how much I need to make!
They’re currently available at stores nationwide, including Walmart and Kroger! So look for them on your next shopping trip!
