Heart of Haiti
Something amazing is going on at Macy’s. Lives are being changed while we are out shopping. It’s all happening because of Heart of Haiti. Launched by artist and social entrepreneur, Willa Shalit, along with The Clinton Bush Haiti Fund and Macy’s, the Heart of Haiti initiative provides opportunities for people in Haiti to feed their families and send their children to school. So why does this matter? Because Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. Still, there are many people living there that want to improve their lives through employment. 750 Haitian artists have been employed through The Heart of Haiti collection. The financial benefits reach about 5,000 people! Heart of Haiti is a way to make a difference while out shopping at Macy’s.
Horn Stretch Bracelet
That gorgeous bracelet in the photo is just one piece in the collection of over 40 items. The collection includes pieces made from recycled and sustainable items. Some of the items used include old cement bags, cardboard, and oil drums. I never imagined that a such a gorgeous bracelet could come from cow horns.
The horns that are used for this bracelet only come from animals used for consumption.
The Horn Stretch Bracelet is black and white, making it a very neutral option when it comes to jewelry. I don’t wear much jewelry besides my wedding ring but I really liked this bracelet. The chunky design was extremely appealing to me visually.
I also love the stretch feature! It means I don’t have to spend time battling any clasps or closures. Of course, it means W can snap the bracelet on my arm. But I put a stop to that fairly quickly! I also wash my hands many times a day while at work. It’s great that the bracelet can be slipped right off when I’m at the sink with my students!
As you know, I’m a t-shirt and jeans girl. This bracelet is a great way to dress up a nice black t-shirt and jeans. Add some cute shoes and I’m ready for date night with J!
