Dwight Wilkinson opened his Kiddie Academy location in North Wales, Pennsylvania on September 8, 2003. He has a passion for the mental and physical development of children that has helped him remain dedicated to education excellence for the past ten years.
Background. Before becoming part of the Kiddie Academy family, Dwight owner a Haagen Dazs Ice Cream Shop, but he was looking for a business that would enable him to spend more time with his wife and children. He wanted a Monday through Friday schedule so he would be available for his family and to volunteer in his community. After two years of exploring child care opportunities, he chose Kiddie Academy.
Goals. Dwight strives to improve the quality of service provided at his center. He is working to grow his enrollment and is considering a second location.
Challenges. One of his biggest challenges has been finding the most effective way to communicate with his families. He has incorporated a variety of methods including take home folders, posted signs, and technology.
Results. Dwight’s Kiddie Academy location was recently licensed by the Department of Education and accredited by AdvancEd. This is an achievement that no other child care in his area has reached! On a personal level his career has become both fun and rewarding while allowing him to spend more time with his family.
