One of our favorite things to do is have friends over for playdates. They don't have to be elaborate get togethers with a lot of planning. They just have to involve good friends and a lot of fun. Oh, and food. Food always seems to be an important part of a good playdate no matter what time of day we schedule one. But playdate food is made easy with help from some of our favorite frozen foods!
Playdate Food Made Easy with Frozen Food
When it comes to playdates, I know that sometimes I can get myself a little stressed out trying to plan a bunch of things for the kids to do. To be honest, sometimes they like to have plans but most of the time they are content to just play and have fun on their own. So that stress is all mine.
It is fun from time to time to plan some special foods or plan a themed playdate. But I've found that I end up having more fun if I just take a deep breath and pick up some frozen food items that I know the kids and the adults will both enjoy!
Ore-Ida frozen Tater Tots are one of W's favorite foods these days. So they are definitely a go to when we have friends over to play. I can put a bunch of them in the oven and then spend time with my fellow moms until they're ready. It keeps me out of the kitchen and enjoying time with our friends!
When it comes to fresh vs frozen, frozen is how fresh stays fresh by locking in the flavor and nutrients of food. Frozen foods also provide a wide variety of easy-to-prep options which make them convenient for busy family lifestyles. The convenience factor is huge when I'm entertaining and one of my favorite benefits of frozen foods!
I don't want to spend all my time alone in the kitchen!
But frozen foods aren't just for the kids. Due to nap times and other schedules, our playdates always seem to start earlier in the day and run into lunch time. So having some lunch options for both the kids and moms could take a lot of prep work. Or it doesn't have to!
Frozen pizza is always a huge hit with everyone who comes over. Recently we've fallen in love with Schwan's Freschetta Naturally Rising Crust. The crust is amazing! And the 4 Cheese Medley Pizza works great for both kids and adults. Plus I can pop it in the oven and hang out while we wait. The convenience factor again!
But I always keep our freezer stocked with some variety in case any of my mom friends want something on the lighter side.
The Healthy Choice line by ConAgra is a staple in our freezer. J depends on them for lunch and on busy nights we might even have one for dinner. So having some on hand for playdates is an easy food idea. And Kellogg's Morningstar products are some of my favorites for lunch. Have you ever tried one of the corn dogs? Delicious!
Most of the time I have the basics on hand like Pinnacle Mrs. Paul's Crunchy Fish Sticks to go with W's favorite tater tots. So without much planning and without much time spent in the kitchen, everyone gets fed and everyone goes home happy!
It definitely puts the focus on the fun instead of on the prep! And I'm sure most moms would like that!
