Earlier this month we were headed to Walt Disney World for the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration. Our flight departed very early in the morning, so when we were offered a complimentary stay at the Houston Marriott Airport hotel at Bush Intercontinental Airport, we were thrilled to have the chance to check it out!
If you’ve ever wondered why you might stay at an airport hotel, we’ve got some great reasons based on our experience!
4 Reasons to Stay at Houston Marriott Airport Hotel
Now that the kids are both getting older, we’ve been doing more and more family travel. Which means I’m looking at it all in a bit of different way. Waking up at 3am with the kids to make it to the airport in time for an early departure isn’t at the top of my list of favorite things to do. So the Houston Marriott Airport hotel definitely caught my eye.
After our experience it, I’d recommend it for a number of reasons!
Location, Location, Location
The newly renovated hotel is located inside the airport grounds! It’s not a few miles down the road. It’s right there at the terminals! Talk about location, right?
In just minutes we were checking out bags and heading through security thanks to the complimentary transportation to and from the terminals via the connected underground tram. We took the elevator down to the lower level and caught the tram right to our terminal!
We were able to sleep two extra hours which meant we started off our early morning trip to Disney World in good moods!
Oh and if you visit the upper floors of the hotel, you can get some great views of the airport. We had a blast watching planes land and take off before the sun set.
Updated and Spacious Rooms
When traveling with the kids, a hotel room can make or break us. We’ve stayed in some gorgeous places and some that just didn’t work for us. At the Houston Marriott Airport hotel all of the rooms have new furnishing, carpet, and wall coverings. Plus the rooms feature some great technology!
They’ve skipped some traditional room options like full size desks to provide more space as requested by visitors. And if you need outlets in your room to charge all of your devices, they’ve got you covered with the addition of more outlets in the renovation.
There’s also some great technology updates in the lobby areas including dependable WiFi and large screens that show updated flight information!
We wondered about how noisy the rooms might be since we were so close to the airport. But they’ve taken care of that with reinforced windows that made our hotel room one of the quietest I’ve ever stayed in!
Start Vacation Early with a Dip
The kids were huge fans of being able to start the vacation off a bit early with a dip in the pool at the hotel! We had it to ourselves for the afternoon which was fun for all of us! The pool is located so even as the sun moves across the sky later in the afternoon, the sun is on the pool area most of the time. It kept us warm as we climbed in and jumped back in hundreds of times!
The kids loved looking out our window at our pool view, especially as the sun set and the pool lit up in a gorgeous way!
Oh and we also discovered another fun way to play in the water at the Houston Marriott Airport hotel! The bathroom in our room was just perfect for a glow-in-the-dark bath after we spent the afternoon in the pool. With the renovation, the door closed to make a great dark room for some glow stick fun while getting clean!
One thing that’s important to us as a family when we travel is that everyone can find something they like to eat. This can be tricky when it comes to having to eat out while traveling because my kids can be pretty picky. But the new all-day restaurant, FLIGHTs Lounge & Grill, was added during the hotel renovation and we had the chance to enjoy dinner there.
We were thrilled to discover that the menu had something for everyone on it! The kids menu had a variety of options that my kids like so they were able to eat and be happy. The regular menu had a wide variety of options. We had a blast trying some new flavors and enjoyed all of it!
FLIGHTs Lounge & Grill is a restaurant I’d love to eat at again, even if we weren’t staying at the hotel!
As you can see, we had a great stay at the Houston Airport Marriott at George Bush Intercontinental and followed it up with a great family vacation! The convenience of everything was a great way to start our vacation with less stress!
