Review: Green Toys

Green ToysGreen Toys Inc. offers an amazing line of classic children’s toys that are very different from most of the toys you find on the shelves at your local store. They are constructed from recycled plastic and other environmentally friendly materials! They are also 100% made in the USA and use recycled milk containers as the main ingredient in creating the toys. They also incorporate environmentally friendly packaging which sets them apart from other toy makers! All Green Toys products are packaged in recycled corrugated boxes with no plastics, cellophane or twist-ties, and are 100% recyclable. This makes them earth-friendly and ready for your recycling bin!

Green Toys Dump TruckWe had the opportunity to try a toy from the Green Toy product line and I chose the Green Toys Dump Truck. I liked the primary red and yellow colors. It just looked like a good toy for a boy and one that he could grow up using. It is recommended for ages 1 year and up but W is already enjoying it!

I had never seen a Green Toys toy before I had the opportunity to review the Dump Truck but a few weeks ago I saw a few Green Toys products at my local Barnes & Noble store! I was excited because I think the packaging really stands out from the others because it is more straightforward and the coloring is more muted. When I saw them on the shelves this actually drew my attention to the products because the boxes looked different from the others.

Another thing I love about the packaging is the front of the box. All of the great details are very clearly printed on the front of the box. For someone who is looking for a gift or toy alternative that is more “green” the Green Toys packaging quickly points out why it is a good choice! I love the facts that are printed on the back of the Dump Truck box! They make me glad that we recently began recycling again after many years!

Green ToysThe Green Toys website claimed that the toys were easy to get out of the box. They were right! I loved that it didn’t have a million twist ties that I couldn’t get undone or had to try to snip with scissors. I never realized just how challenging some toys can be to get out of the box until I became a parent. The ease of getting the Dump Truck out of the box makes me want to fill W’s room with Green Toys just to avoid a headache for me!

I was interested to see how the truck felt compared to other plastic toys. The Dump Truck felt just as sturdy which I was pleased to discover! It is also a working dump truck but it does not contain any metal axles.  W already enjoys putting his smaller toys and blocks in the back although he hasn’t figured out how to work the dumper on his own yet!

Green Toys Dump TruckW has discovered many less traditional uses for the Dump Truck including using it as a giant teething toy! It has held up well too. It is sturdy and he doesn’t leave any teeth marks on it unlike some of our other toys that seem to made of a soft plastic.

He’s also sat in the dumper once and amused himself so apparently it makes a good chair as well! Though I think he got lucky that it didn’t roll away!

I have been extremely pleased with the high quality of the Green Toys Dump Truck. I love that it is made in the USA and that it is made from recycled materials. I also love that W is a huge fan! It is one of the toys he reaches for often when digging through his toy bin! I hope to get him a few more for his birthday or Christmas. I will admit that I have my eye on the Green Toys Fire Truck and the Recycling Truck! I think they would all make a great set of trucks that W will play with for many years to come!

Buy It! The Green Toys Dump Truck is available in red and yellow or pink and lavender so there is something for every child! It retails on for $27.99 although you may be able to find some at your local stores like I did at my Barnes & Noble!
