Self-Care Ideas for Moms is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Snapple®. The opinions and text are all mine. #Takes2toMangoTea #Walmart
As busy parents, it’s important that we all make sure to take time for ourselves. To be able to take care of our families to the best of our abilities, we have to take care of ourselves.
It doesn’t have to take huge efforts to make self-care for busy moms happen. It’s about the small things we can do for ourselves every day to refresh and recharge.
Self-Care Ideas for Moms
Recently I discovered that I have a lot of mom friends who don’t really know what self-care means for them. Most of them told me something about having a day to get a manicure or a massage.
Those are great self-care activities for women, but if your days are anything like mine, it can be hard to schedule things like that on a regular basis. So I’m recharging with those kinds of activities once every few months.
But what about all of the everyday demands that busy parents have to manage? I know I have had to find self-care ideas for moms that I can practice on a daily basis!
Self-Care for Busy Moms
Self-care doesn’t mean you have to plan big things for yourself. While those spa days or girls nights out are amazing, you can add a little self-care into every single day.
Break It Down
This is my biggest tip for taking time for self-care — break it down into smaller doses of self-care! It’s so much easier to make it happen!
It’s really all about taking a bit of time for yourself to reset, recharge a bit, and take on the rest of the day with your family!
Self-care and motherhood go hand in hand if we want to be our best for our families!
Take a Breath of Fresh Air
Find a few minutes each day to get outside. Even if all you do is step outside the door and spend a few minutes being outdoors. If you can make time to go for a walk, do that! Even if you’re pushing the stroller along with you. In the middle of the afternoon, getting some fresh air and sunshine is a great way to reset to handle the rest of the day!
Sing Out Loud
One of my favorite ways to just let loose and get myself revved up is to listen to some of my favorite music. Nap time is the perfect time to turn on your favorite tunes and grab a snack. While the kids refresh, take some self-care time. The chores will still be there when you’re done.
You can spend ten minutes refilling your cup so you’re ready to support everyone else!
Grab a Snack
I find myself often sharing the same snacks as I give my kids. But it’s not always the one that I enjoy the most or the one that really fits with the way I’m trying to eat. Remember nap time? When you take that break, make a snack that you enjoy. Don’t eat the crackers or cheese cubes (unless you want to!). Make something you enjoy.
Sit down with a drink you enjoy and eat a snack while recharging!
Right now my favorite snack is actually a bowl of mixed nuts paired with an ice cold Snapple® Takes 2 to Mango™ Tea. Iced tea is my thing right now and this new Snapple flavor is amazing!
When I was checking out at Walmart this week, the girl ringing up our groceries was excited to see they had it in stock. Apparently I’m not the only one loving it right now! She said it’s her new favorite flavor, and I might have to agree!
I was happy to find it in the soda aisle next to the other Snapple flavors at my local Walmart store. So convenient!
Sitting down for a few minutes (on the back deck if I can) while Weston is at school and Carrigan is napping is one way I take care of myself. Add a bowl of nuts (which my kids won’t steal) with a cold Snapple Mango Tea to the mix and my day is completely reset after just a few minutes.
Enjoying myself is one of the best self-care ideas for moms that I know. Just find time to enjoy yourself!
More Self-Care Ideas for Busy Moms
There are so many ideas that you can make your own list of favorites! Then make them happen in small moments, especially in the afternoon when you’ve made it through the morning and need to reset and recharge for the rest of the day!
- Take a nap (this is my favorite way to recharge on the weekends)
- Read a book (and I’m not talking about a children’s book at bedtime)
- Get crafty
- Soak in the tub
- Put your phone on airplane mode or do not disturb mode for an hour and fully engage in whatever is going on!
- Spend a few minutes with your pet
By adding self-care into almost every day, I find that I’m recharged and better able to handle everything that comes with our busy family life!
