Simple Ways to Make Mornings Easier is part of my participation in the Mom Blog Tour at the Summer Fancy Food Show (#MomBlogTourFF) on behalf of Wendy’s Bloggers. I received Brooklyn Bean Roastery products and a Hamilton Beach FlexBrew to facilitate my review.
Simple Ways to Make Mornings Easier
When it comes to mornings and family life, things can easily get a bit chaotic. I’m pretty sure our family is not alone in this! So I’m always on the hunt for simple ways to make mornings easier! Anything that makes our routine easier is good by me!
So here are a few things we do around here as we transition from summer to our fall routine!
Do It the Night Before
When I was teaching, one of the things that made my mornings easier was making sure I did as much as I could the night before. This was before I had kids and just had a lot of teaching stuff that I brought back and forth between home and school. Instead of leaving it all for the morning, I did as much prep as I could at night.
Busy family life has tons of things you can take care of before bed including:
- Making lunches
- Checking all folders for important papers (and missed homework!)
- Picking out clothes
- Planning breakfast
- Tidy up around the house
Anything you can do the night before makes mornings easier! Keep your to do list as short as you can in the morning!
Wake Up 10 Minutes Earlier
One of the things that has helped me the most is setting my alarm for ten minutes earlier than I used to. You would be surprised what you can get done with ten extra minutes without the kids! You could use it for a bit of time alone before the busy day starts. Or you could use it to enjoy your own quick breakfast so you don’t forget again! Wait, that has never happened to anyone, right?
Adding those ten extra minutes has helped me feel less rushed most mornings and that makes for a better start to the day. When I’m rushed and feeling frantic, it seems to rub off!
Keep Breakfast Simple
I’m a breakfast person so when it comes to breakfast, I’m dreaming off eggs, bacon, and maybe even a waffle. On busy school mornings this is a quick way to get myself into trouble. So one of the most basic ways to make mornings easier is to keep breakfast simple.
Save the fancy breakfast for the weekends and stick to basics during the school year. Some of our basics include:
- Mini pancakes (can be warmed in the microwave)
- Cereal (my kids are guaranteed to actually eat some)
- Fruit & Cheese
They’re all easy to have the kids sit down with which means I can get everything else ready while they eat!
Indulge a Little
If you’re wondering what I mean by indulge on a busy school morning, trust me when I say it’s something small. Be sure to plan a few minutes into your morning routine to take care of yourself.
Add time into the morning to have your cup of coffee or tea. Maybe sit down while your kids are eating and enjoy a warm cup. It’s a great way to get a few quality minutes in with them before they head off to school. Indulge in those kinds of things, no matter how busy your mornings are. If it means waking everyone up fifteen minutes earlier, do it!
One of the easiest ways to do make sure you have time to indulge a little is by stocking up on Brooklyn Bean Single Serve Cups in all of your favorite varieties. Then all you have to do is turn on your Hamilton Beach FlexBrew to make yourself a cup of your favorite morning indulgence.
So why Brooklyn Bean and the Hamilton Beach FlexBrew?
Brooklyn Bean Roastery offers single serve pods that work with many single serve coffee makers, including and especially the Hamilton Beach FlexBrew Single Serve Coffee Maker! The Flexbrew is perfectly sized for the counter top which makes it great for small kitchens like mine!
It makes whatever size cup you need (8 oz, 10 oz, or 14 oz) and it’s ready in minutes!
The Brooklyn Bean Roastery coffee is made for a wide variety of tastes too! There’s a variety of roasts and flavors to suit every palate. From crisp, flavorful, light blends to full flavor, extra bold roasts to decadent flavored coffees, and all with one-of-a-kind names and packaging that captures the Brooklyn flair.
Don’t drink coffee? Then you’re just like me and Brooklyn Bean hot chocolate varieties will give you a chance to indulge too! My favorite happens to be the Campfire Hot Cocoa — you have to try it if you’re a hot cocoa fan!
So when you’re aiming to make mornings easier as the family settles into a new routine, just think of keeping it all as simple as possible. Make sure to plan ahead and give yourself extra time. And don’t be afraid to take a bit of that time to indulge and bond with the kids before the busy day ahead!
