Cold and flu season is official here. As a teacher I can always tell when the madness has begun because my classroom is full of sneezes, sniffles, coughs, and kids who think they need to go to the nurse. She’s a popular lady this time of year! It’s the perfect time to stock up on some essential supplies for staying healthy at home and at school! The stores seem to have the same idea judging by what I see when I’m out shopping!
Last weekend, I headed out to my local Randall’s store which is a Safeway affiliate store to find their Be Well. Save Well. pamphlet. It’s full of great tips for staying healthy during cold and flu season as well as money-saving coupons! What a great pair! It was so easy to find the pamphlet too! I just stopped in at the pharmacy when I got to the store and it was sitting out on the counter!
As I mentioned before, the brochure is full of tips for staying healthy as well as coupons to help you save some money. Some of my favorite tips from the pamphlet include getting active, reducing your stress, and getting plenty of rest. These are all things that I struggle with as I work to balance all of the aspects of my life! I will have to focus on these for the next few months and maybe I’ll make it through without getting sick!
My goal was to put together a wellness kit that included 100% Florida orange juice so I was off to the juice section of the store. I will admit that we don’t buy a lot of juice. I do get W apple juice that always lasts a while because we water it down. Once or twice a month we do buy some orange juice because Grambo sometimes gets a craving! 100% Florida Orange Juice is one of the few types of juice that can be found in our home. It’s a splurge I’m willing to make because it’s a great way to get some extra vitamins and minerals during cold and flu season. It’s also tasty with pancakes and bacon on weekend mornings!
I knew I wanted orange juice but I didn’t expect the amazing selection that was available at my Randall’s store. I usually shop at other grocery stores and only make special trips to Randall’s so I’m not as familiar with it. The refrigerated juice section was impressive! I was looking for 100% Florida Orange juice and as I paid more attention to the types of juice, I would say about half of them were 100% Florida Orange juice. The others were different flavor blends or orange juice beverages. After I chose some orange juice, I headed back to the pharmacy area to look for some supplies for my wellness kit. I stopped in the facial tissue aisle and discovered that the store was trying to make it easy for sick shoppers!
They had cleared some shelves in the middle of all the Kleenex to display an assortment of cold and flu medicines and remedies! I thought this was a great idea and it definitely caught my eye. I’m going to have to see if my other local stores are doing the same thing! I don’t think I’ve seen it before but maybe I just wasn’t paying attention! After a bit more shopping I had some essentials for a cold and flu kit. I also saved a little with some of the coupons from the Be Well. Save Well. pamphlet! There were few more items I picked up later that I also think are important but weren’t available at Randall’s. Those with little ones might recognize them!
I think that we’re more prepared to battle illness during this cold and flu season! I plan to make sure everyone is washing their hands a lot, eating healthy, and getting plenty of rest. If we happen to get sick we may be stopping by Randall’s to pick up more 100% Florida orange juice! To see my entire shopping trip, check out my Be Well, Save Well Google+ album!
