On my recent trip to LA, I had the opportunity to screen the new Focus Features film, Bad Moms. It hits theaters on July 29th and is a great film for moms, dads, and anyone who’s feeling the pressure of being a parent these days! If you’re into a good comedy and you’re a mom, it’s a must-see!
Why Moms Need to See Bad Moms
Even though the studio flew me out to check out the film and these are my opinions, I’ll be seeing it again on my own because I enjoyed it and it really stuck with me. There’s nothing like a few great laughs combined with a message that really resonates!
You’ll Recognize Yourself
Kathryn Hahn, who plays Carla in Bad Moms, shared with us in our interview that she loves that the movie explores what it’s really like to be a mom.
Sure, the characters might be slightly exaggerated, but you’ll see some of yourself in at least one of the characters. You’ll recognize your own mom, your friends, and your neighbors!
Christina Applegate (Gwendolyn) and Annie Mumolo (Vicky) summed it up perfectly when they told us that we all know those moms. We are those moms.
Yes, the characters in the film are just that — characters. But you’ll see yourself and you’ll get it. You’ll laugh and you’ll laugh some more.
Who doesn’t like to laugh? Take a break, hit the movie theater without the kids, relax, and laugh.
Sounds good to me!
You’ll Know It’s Okay
Bad Moms takes the subject of motherhood and goes beyond the greeting card version that celebrates the beauty and magic of being a mother.
Yes, it’s the most amazing experience of my life and I’m sure it’s something most moms would agree on. But when your toddler is screaming because you cut their sandwich into triangle and not squares, it doesn’t feel so magical.
When the pressure is on to make the perfect lunch, get one kid to soccer and the other to dance, while making it to work on time, scheduling doctor appointments, and clean the house — being a mom doesn’t feel quite so amazing.
And that’s okay.
The message that Bad Moms wants us all to take home with us is that it’s okay to do less.
Really moms. It’s okay to do less.
So grab your girlfriends, your mom, or even your husband, and check out Bad Moms in theaters on July 29th!
