My Zootopia review is a sponsored review. I was compensated for going to see the movie. However I would see it again more than once. It’s that good!
If you’re a fan of Disney movies then you’ve probably already seen Zootopia or have your tickets to go. If you’re not, then you should get on it because this is a must see movie for all ages! Check out my Zootopia review to find out why I think so!
Zootopia Review: A Must See for All Ages
I had the chance to first see Disney’s Zootopia at a screening as part of the #ZootopiaEvent last month in Orlando. I fell in love with the film for a number of reasons but I wanted to see what it was like to see it with my family before I shared my Zootopia review.
We had the chance to see it together this weekend in Dolby Cinema at AMC Prime and it’s officially a must see for all ages. (And if you can see it in an AMC Prime theater to get that Dolby Cinema opening week — do it!) There are a few reasons I think it’s a must see. Take a look and then see the movie to see what you think!
Entertaining for All
One of the most important things for our family when we go to the movie theater is that the movie is entertaining for everyone. We’ve been in movies where Weston asked if the movie was over less than five minutes after it started. And there have been plenty of kids’ movies I’ve sat through and found no entertainment for me.
Zootopia is not one of those movies. It’s super entertaining from the start to the final credits. There’s amazing animation and silly antics that the kids will love. But there’s also some great pop culture references and humor for the adults too.
The movie shares messages about stereotypes, race, and culture that could easily be limited to adults. It’s important one for us as parents, but it’s also an important message for our children.
The world of Zootopia reflects the society we live in today and you might recognize a bit of yourself in some of the characters. But the lessons and issues are shared in a way that all ages can understand on some level.
The directors included the scene from Judy Hopps’ childhood because it is an almost universal experience. It’s a bummer that it is but as an adult I could relate to it and how it could impact her life. And Weston also understood exactly what was going on and why it wasn’t a good thing.
Even with all of the deeper issues being addressed in Zootopia, we got an ending we would expect from Disney. When I’m taking my kids to the movies, that’s an important thing. I don’t need them worrying about the way a movie ended, especially when they don’t full understand the difference between fantasy and reality.
So know that Zootopia ends with a heart-warming and encouraging messaging.
If you’re worried about any moments that are too scary for the kids, there is one moment when a bunch of animals are put away in cages that as a jumpy moment. So just be ready for that!

Our entire family enjoyed our experience. Justin loved the amazing sound quality and Weston loved the reclining seats. I thought it was fun to feel the movie in our seats too. It wasn’t like a theme park ride or anything, just some rumbles during certain parts of the movie. I think we all appreciated the deep and vibrant colors of the screen which were perfect for a gorgeous movie like Zootopia!
