A Bad Moms Christmas Cast Interviews
Are you a fan of Bad Moms? Last year I shared why moms needed to see Bad Moms so I was excited to have the opportunity to screen the new sequel, A Bad Moms Christmas, and have a chance to sit down with the cast to learn more about the movie!
If you’re wondering about how A Bad Moms Christmas might stack up to the original movie, have no fear! It’s time for you to plan your next girls night out to see it!
The film opens in theaters on Wednesday, November 1st! So be sure to call up your friends and make plans to see it. It’s a great way to kick off the holiday season and remind us all that we don’t have to be perfect!
Last week I had the chance to screen the film and then sit down and chat with a few of the amazing ladies that make up the A Bad Moms Christmas cast!
- Mila Kunis returns as Amy
- Kristen Bell returns as Kiki
- Kathryn Hahn is back as Carla
- Cheryl Hines is Kiki’s mom, Sandy
- Susan Sarandon is Carla’s mom, Isis
To be able to chat with these amazing actresses was definitely a treat. They are as interesting and funny as you might expect!
I also love how strongly they all believe in the Bad Moms movement that is happening, thanks to the films.
Chatting with A Bad Moms Christmas Cast
You know it’s going to be a good little chat with the A Bad Moms Christmas cast when it starts out like this:
Kathryn Hahn: Are these practical macarons? I’m going to have one.
Blogger: They’re delicious.
Kristen Bell: Is there an impractical macaron?
Kathryn Hahn: Yes, exactly. No.
For the record, they were delicious. I believe we had Orange Marmalade and Grand Marnier flavored macarons!
How early is too early for macarons? When served with mimosas, I’m pretty sure any time is a good time!
In the interview, we went on to discuss what it was like to be part of what has turned into a movement of sorts. Bad Moms is much more than a movie.
The actresses all feel this as well.
Kathryn Hahn: Just like to have, to just feel like you’re a part of a community is, ugh, it really is comforting to know we have each other’s backs.
Like I also think one of the important messages of both movies is just like the lack of judgment and self-criticism, to try to like let that go because, like Kristin was saying, it’s like we only are mommies to these little people for a very short amount of time.
Based on my experience at the screening of A Bad Moms Christmas in Chicago, there is definitely a tribe coming together to support each other.
It’s nice to be reminded that we don’t have to be perfect. We just have to be mom.
I loved when Kristen Bell reminded all of us in the room of what’s really important.
Kristen Bell: It’s such an important reminder because like look, this is what I say to all my friends. Do you know how many times I’m here? Once on Earth, one time.
So like I want it to be joyful, and happy and exciting. And a good portion of that joy, and happiness and excitement is my kids, and then every now and again you hit capacity, and you’ve got to switch it up, and you’ve got to take a girls night.
And that’s healthy, and that’s actually healthier than not doing it.
And for some reason culturally we’ve decided it is unacceptable to talk about mothers being autonomous women at all, ever, point blank period.
The rest of the interview was like we were just hanging out with other moms.
The actress shared some of their favorite things to do when they have a girls night with their friends. Kathyrn Hahn loves karaoke and “digesting food.”
I think we all understood what she meant about actually having time to truly sit down and enjoy a meal, to really get to taste the food. Mila Kunis agreed that drinks and food at a leisurely pace make for a great night out.
Once you’ve seen the movie, you’re going to want to know more about Kathyrn Hahn’s experience working with Justin Hartley (Ty Swindell).
We asked her how many takes it took to shoot the spa scene when Carla meets Ty for the first time (you’ll know it as soon as you see the movie), and she had this to say:
Kathryn Hahn: Just not enough. Not enough takes, guys. I could —
Mila Kunis: Never enough Justin [Hartley].
Kathryn Hahn: Never enough, yes. No, there were still things to be mined I feel like. I’m left unsatisfied. Yes, for sure.
They kept us all laughing through the interview. It was a great time hanging out with the girls.
Just a room full of moms who understood each other!
A BAD MOMS CHRISTMAS follows our three under-appreciated and over-burdened women as they rebel against the challenges and expectations of the Super Bowl for moms: Christmas. And if creating the perfect holiday for their families wasn’t hard enough, they have to do all of that while hosting an entertaining their own mothers.
By the end of the journey, our moms will redefine how to make the holidays special for all and discover a closer relationship with their mothers.
A Bad Moms Christmas arrives in theaters on Wednesday, November 1st!
