Throughout our cloth diaper journey we have had the opportunity to try a few cloth diaper friendly detergents.
I received a free product for review purposes. However, all opinions and experiences are 100% my own.
Eco Sprout Detergent for Cloth Diapers
The most recent detergent I had the opportunity to use for our cloth diapers is Eco Sprout Detergent. Eco Sprout detergent is all natural, environmentally friendly, and safe for cloth diapers and sensitive skin. Eco Sprout is free from dyes, brighteners, enzymes, phosphates, and is 100% biodegradable.
Eco Sprout comes in a variety of sizes and scents. You can choose between three bag sizes – 24oz, 48oz, and 96oz. At approximately 2-4 tablespoons per load of diapers, these bags will last quite awhile. For example, if you’re using and average of 2 tablespoons of detergent per load from your 24oz bag then it will last for over 40 loads based on the math. Your situation might different depending on what type of washing machine you’re using and the type of water you have. The full Eco Sprout washing directions can be found on the website. Using the chart you should be able to determine how much detergent you need per load. For our situation we have a top loader and slightly hard water so I have been using 3 tablespoons of detergent per load. Based on this, I should get just over 30 loads out of the bag which is great because the 24oz bag only costs $7.98. If you’re looking for an affordable detergent that is safe for cloth diapers, Eco Sprout definitely falls into that category!
I had the opportunity to try a 24oz bag in the Fresh Linen scent. Eco Sprout comes in 8 different scents including a seasonal scent. Although I do not usually chose the linen scent when it comes to products, I did like the Fresh Linen scented detergent. It was very fresh smelling which is the kind of scent I like when it comes to laundry! So far we have only done our regular cloth diaper laundry using Eco Sprout but I have been very pleased with the results. In the dryer we use wool dryer balls and the combination leaves are diapers feeling and smelling very clean. Due to the success of using Eco Sprout in the regular laundry I may use it to soak and strip our inserts. I may try an Eco Sprout mini-soak this weekend!
Buy it! You can buy a 24oz bag of Eco Sprout Detergent on the Eco Sprout website for $7.98. 48oz bags are $13.98 and 96oz bags are $24.98.
