Mother’s Day is around the corner and we’re excited to share our Mayka Tape DIY Mother’s Day Craft we made in partnership with ZURU!
If there’s one thing I know my son loves, it’s building with his blocks. But he’s also a pretty big fan of me aka his mom. He’s told me that he’s not sure how he can ever leave me because I’m his precious mom. (That’s one of those things he’s said to me that I never want to forget.)
Mayka Tape DIY Mother’s Day Craft
I’m pretty sure he’s not the only kid who loves the two things that my son loves. Which is why pairing Mayka tape with Mother’s Day is a great combination! For a crafty way to let your kids create a fun gift for you, their grandmother, or other important mother type figures in your life, this picture frame is an easy project to make together!
I’m pretty lucky to have Grambo living with us when it comes to Mother’s Day. She loves taking the kids out to buy a gift for me. Then when it comes to Justin, we have a tradition of him getting the van detailed and it’s a tradition that I love!
So I’m pretty spoiled in some very simple ways.
But I love a good handmade Mother’s Day gift. All of those things the kids bring home from school are the things I want to keep forever! I’m that kind of mom. Sentimental for sure.
It’s one of the reasons I wanted to make this easy picture frame project with Mayka Tape. If your child is old enough, this is a project they really could do on their own. If they’re younger, they can still make it and you can even help them get started without seeing the entire finished project because the last few steps are ones they can complete on their own.

How to Make Mayka Block Tape Picture Frame
The best thing about this Mother’s Day photo frame is that it’s so easy to make! You don’t have to be super crafty at all!
STEP 1. Open the Mayka Tape and cut strips to match the lengths of each side of the frame.
I cut the long sides of the frame to fit the entire length of the frame and then cut the short sides to fit between the longer pieces.
The Mayka Tape is best used on clean, flat surfaces so make sure your frame is clean before you stick it on the frame! (Also, avoid sticking it on painted walls or it could damage them!
STEP 2. Let your child use their blocks to customize the frame!
It’s really that simple to make! You can put a photo in the frame before you put on the Mayka Tape or after the frame is finished.
It’s one of the easiest crafts you can make for Mother’s Day gifts but is a great way to get your kids who love building to create a gift that is more homemade. Weston was completely into designing his own frame by building on the Mayka Tape!
If your child is old enough, they could cut their own Mayka Tape strips and do the entire project on their own. But younger kids may need a bit of help cutting and then peeling the backing off before sticking it on the frame.
Mother’s Day can be many different things depending on your family. It can be a day a relaxation where you take a bit of a break. It can be all about family and spending time together. But no matter how your family celebrates, one thing that I think always leads to great memories are homemade gifts.
Don’t be afraid to go as big as you want with gifts or keep it as simple as you want. The one thing I know about Mother’s Day gifts is that it really is the thought that counts! For me, homemade is what I know I’ll hold dear to my heart.
I’ll never forget my son’s love for building nor his love for me. This Lego Picture Frame with Mayka Tape represents who he is this year and it’s a project I’ll treasure for years to come!
This DIY Mother’s Day craft can easily be used for other gift-giving occasions too (and it makes a great activity for block building themed parties)!
