Even before Weston was born, my husband had a dream. He’s a huge Houston Astros fan and he always dreamed of taking our kids to the home opener as part of a family tradition. He even asked me if I would be okay with him taking them out of school once a year on that special day. I have a feeling that opening day baseball traditions are going to be ones that my kids remember for many years to come!
Opening Day Baseball Traditions
Life is definitely about making memories because they are the things that last. So I decided that in addition to going to the ball park with Daddy for opening day each year, we should do even more to help the kids get as excited as Daddy is for the start of baseball season!
This year we made easy baseball cookies for a little treat before the big game! These were perfect because they are simple enough that Weston was able to make them with me. It really got him excited about going to see a baseball game.
And then my favorite part of the baseball traditions — getting new gear! Justin and I decided that choosing new shirts (and sometimes new hats) would be a fun tradition to add into the mix. With the way the kids are growing, they need new Astros gear every year anyway, so we thought it would be fun to help build up the hype by letting them choose their new shirt for the season!
When it comes to shopping with the kids, doing it online is the easiest thing to do. And Weston loves looking at websites to find just the thing he needs. Fanatics is the largest retailer of officially licensed sports merchandise and provides the ultimate shopping experience to sports fans so it was great for finding our new MLB gear this year!
Fanatics offers hundreds of thousands of officially licensed items for all major professional sports leagues (NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL, NASCAR, PGA), major media brands and over 200 collegiate and professional team properties. So you can really find something for your favorite team. And the variety is wonderful!
Justin had no trouble finding a shirt he loved. The George Springer Houston Astros Majestic Official Name and Number T-Shirt was an easy choice for him! And Carrigan was in need of some new Astros gear since she doesn’t have any! The Houston Astros Youth Distressed Logo T-Shirt was perfect for her because it matched Daddy’s shirt! Weston had been wanting a hat like Daddy’s hat so he chose a new hat from Fanatics and now he just has to figure out how to get his sister to let him wear it!
But I’d say they are all ready to hit the ballpark on opening day this year! And it’s so easy to complete their outfits with shorts we already have in our closets! So coordinated and ready to cheer on the home team!
Houston Astros fans from the start! Justin couldn’t be more excited and I love having a special little family tradition that isn’t related to any holidays. It’s nice to have those extra traditions and make as many memories as possible!
I have a feeling that we’ll be ordering from Fanatics every year because it was so easy! With quick shipping and great variety, it made it easy to find something perfect for each member of the family!
