Earlier this year, we were invited to take part in Disney Social Media Moms Celebration! To enjoy one of our favorite places together as a family for a few extra days, we flew in early and booked one of the Port Orleans Royal Rooms! We did receive discounted park tickets and a discounted room rate as part of our participation in the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration.
Port Orleans Royal Rooms
You’ve probably heard about Port Orleans Royal Rooms! You might also know them as a Disney Port Orleans Royal Guest Room or Royal Princess Rooms!
Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside is in the Moderate Resort category and is located in the Disney Springs Resort Area. The Disney website describes the resort:
From the stately white-column mansions of Magnolia Bend to Alligator Bayou’s quaint backwoods cottages, delight in a picturesque setting that evokes the romance of rural Louisiana. Take a short walk along the Sassagoula River to Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter, known for Southern specialties like gumbo, jambalaya and beignets.
Our stay in the Disney Port Orleans Riverside Royal Guest Room was our first stay in a moderate resort. In the past we’ve stayed at Deluxe resorts including the Contemporary Resort, Wilderness Lodge, and Beach Club. So I was excited to check out the resort and the Port Orleans Royal Rooms!

Disney Port Orleans Royal Guest Room
The Disney Port Orleans Riverside Royal Rooms are upgraded rooms that have been refurbished with a princess theme. The theme focuses on Princess Tiana and all of her royal friends. This makes sense since The Princess and the Frog is set in New Orleans!
When you’re in your room, look around for special touches that some of your favorite Disney classes. Our favorite was the magic lamp faucets in the bathroom! But check out the rug and see if you think the bench looks
I’ve had a lot of people ask us if the room was too girly for Weston to enjoy. To be honest, he seemed as excited about all of the details as we were! It’s definitely a fun way to experience the magic of Disney! We didn’t think they felt at all girly. They felt majestic and royal!
Disney Port Orleans Riverside Royal Guest Room Locations
The Royal Guest Rooms are available with four different views:
- Standard View – view of parking area
- River View – view of riverfront
- Garden View – view of landscaping, courtyard, or bayou
- Pool View – view of courtyard pool
The rooms are all located in the Magnolia Bend area of the resort in the two three-story mansion buildings – Oak Manor and Parterre Place.
When we visited we stayed in a Standard View in the Oak Manor building. We were at the back of the building with a view of the parking lot but it didn’t both us one bit! It was a straight shot walk over to a bus stop and if we turned the other direction, we could walk right through the building to the courtyard.
Then on to the resort!
Disney Port Orleans Riverside Royal Guest Room Details
These only sleep four and there isn’t room for a rollaway bed. So if your family is larger than four, you’ll need multiple royal princess rooms! When we went, Grambo stayed home so it was perfect for two adults and two kids!
Having two queen size beds instead of doubles was amazing. We all had plenty of room to get comfortable.
Now I don’t know if it’s typical of all of the rooms, but our bathroom felt like it was huge! We had plenty of space to move around even if more than one of us was in the room together. Ours did appear to be an accessible bathroom which could account for extra space.
One of the most magical features of the Port Orleans Royal Rooms (and one of the major reasons I wanted to stay in one) are the headboards!
Dim the lights in the room and you can use a switch to have your very own Disney fireworks show! Check out our video below to see it for yourself!
