As soon as we found out we were pregnant again, my mind started working. I couldn’t help but think, “What do you need for a second baby?” We have a lot of the bigger pieces of baby gear like the infant car seat, a high chair, and strollers. But there were still plenty of pieces of baby gear that we needed.
A crib was definitely high on the list even though W has only slept one night in his crib. But there were smaller things that I definitely knew we needed to replace, usually because we had used them until they were worn out.
This is the case with our diaper bag.
What Do You Need for a Second Baby?
As I put together a list of what we need to get before our baby girl arrives, I knew I needed a diaper bag with one particular feature. I needed a diaper bag that would help me be more hands-free when it comes to going out and about with two kids. While I love messenger style bags, as W has gotten more mobile it has been a challenge to keep up with him with a messenger style diaper bag.
I wanted a bag that was functional for me while offering me the option to use backpack style straps. It is the only way I can see myself managing a diaper bag, a toddler who always seems to be on the move, and a newborn. Because there will be times when I’m on my own with both kids.
The B.F.F. from Ju-Ju-Be seemed to have all of the features I was looking for in a diaper bag built for two!
The backpack strap option was just the beginning!
With plenty of strap options to help me with grabbing the bag and going, I became all about the pockets.
With two kids, I knew pockets would be essential to keeping everything organized. I need a large enough space for extra clothes, diapers, and sometimes things like our iPad. I also need smaller pockets for my things like my phone, wallet, and camera. And side pockets for bottles and sippy cups.
Once I start making a list of my needs, it seems like it might be hard to find. But I didn’t have trouble with the Ju-Ju-Be B.F.F. diaper bag.
I was pleased to find that the B.F.F. had plenty of room for all of our basics. It will be interesting to see how I work cloth diapers into the mix, although when we’re out and about I often take a few disposable diapers with us instead. It’s just one of those balances where I have figured out what works for us.
And this bag features something I had actually forgotten that I loved about my old bag when W was younger. A back pocket with a changing pad! It’s so nice to be able to just pull it out when we need it! The pad also works great as a little cushion on harder surfaces when out and about.
With the Ju-Ju-Be B.F.F. bag I like to think I am one step closer to being ready to balance a newborn and toddler in a few months. Of course there is a lot that still needs to be done to get ready, but anything I cross of my list makes me feel a little more prepared!
