When a Snow Day hits and it’s too cold to send the kids outside, you can still have a great day with these Snow Day Activities to Do Inside! Bring the snow inside and have some fun! Or you can just cry and scream (which you can do anyway depending on how many snow days you’ve have already this year)!
Snow Day Activities to Do Inside
1. Make Snow Ice Cream
If you have enough clean snow, whip up this fun treat and serve in cups or cones.
What you need:
- 4 cups clean snow (shaved ice works too!)
- 1/2 cup whole milk or half & half
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Toppings
What you do:
- Mix the milk, sugar, and vanilla together until the milk dissolves.
- Mix in the snow and stir it until you get a consistency similar to ice cream.
- Scoop and top your snowy treat!
2. Bring the Snow Inside
If your kids are younger or just aren’t up for the cold, bring a bucket of snow inside to your bathtub and let them build and explore with it until it melts!
3. Build a Fort
If it’s too cold to go outside and build a snow for, stay inside where it’s warm and cozy and build a blanket fort together! Put all of those blankets just sitting in the closet to good use! Maybe pop some popcorn and put on a movie too! Who doesn’t want to watch a movie in an amazing blanket fort?
4. Make Your Own Snowflakes
Using craft sticks, paper, or coffee filters, make your own snowflakes. You can color on them and then glue them together if you’re using craft sticks. If you’re using paper or coffee filters, simply fold in half a few times and cut! We love to make Craft Stick Snowflakes throughout the winter!
Just because you can’t get outside, you don’t have to miss out on all the fun that a snow day has to offer! Snow day activities are great for both indoors and outdoors! If you are headed outside, check out our Outdoor Snow Day Activities for Kids!
