I love watching ABC’s 25 Days of Christmas each year! This year “The Great Christmas Light Fight” and “The Great American Baking Show: Holiday Edition” are two perfect reasons to make sure you tune in!
Thanks to Disney, I had the chance to chat with Carter Oosterhouse, host/judge of “The Great Christmas Light Fight” and Sherry Yard, judge on “The Great American Baking Show: Holiday Edition” to learn more about the shows. Disney covered my expenses for the trip in exchange for sharing about what’s coming up on ABC this December!

ABC 25 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS
If you’ve ever watched “The Great Christmas Light Fight” then you know how amazing and inspiring it can be! If you love Christmas lights and holiday decor, you have to watch it!
THE GREAT CHRISTMAS LIGHT FIGHT
It’s a great family-friendly show that you can all sit down together and watch. This year the show features some of the most spectacular Christmas light displays in the country. They’re even more amazing than the seasons before and I was always blown away by them.
This year, something new is happening! Homeowners are not only showing off their amazing outdoor displays, they’re also letting us all see what happens inside their houses!
I’ve always wondered how the judging happens on “The Great Christmas Light Fight.” Is there a team of judges behind the scenes helping make decisions. When we chatted with him, Carter Oosterhouse shared with us that he is actually out there judging and making the decisions.

He was surprised when he first joined the show because he thought someone would be telling him who the winners were, but he actually has to judge the displays and make decisions. I cannot even imagine how challenging it is to make those choices!
The lights are all so amazing! So be sure to tune in this December and catch a few episodes, especially the first ever “Heavyweights” episode! Carter told us that the winning display on that episode uses over 4 million lights!
THE GREAT AMERICAN BAKING SHOW: HOLIDAY EDITION
Carrigan, Grambo, and I have developed a love of watching baking shows together. The holiday season offers so many themed ones that we’re in heaven. Combine one of our favorite types of shows with all things holiday and “The Great American Baking Show: Holiday Edition” is perfect to watch together!
On “The Great American Baking Show: Holiday Edition,” 10 bakers from across the country face a variety of challenges as they work to be named “America’s Best Amateur Baker.” Each two-hour episode features six different challenges.

We sat down with three-time James Beard Award-winning pastry chef Sherry Yard, who is a new judge on the show this season. She was a joy to chat with, so full of energy and passion for food.
When we asked her about the judging experience, she shared that they never know who is going to be named the winner in the episodes because of the nature of the judging.
A baker can score a ten in one challenge only to score a three in the next challenge. And each episode has a blind challenge as well where the judges don’t know who made each item. So it’s a complete surprise when all of the scores are calculated at the end!
She also told us that judging was a bit intense because there were so many amazing treats to try! Even though she only had a few bites of each dish, when you have to taste ten of each thing, those bites up add quickly.
She promised us that we’re going to see some amazing things this season. Some delicious things!
I feel like some inspiration might be coming and I might have to up my Christmas cookie game this year!

HOLIDAY TRADITIONS WITH THE JUDGES
My favorite question of the day was about holiday traditions. We asked Carter and Sherry about their favorite holiday traditions.
Carter Oosterhouse shared a sweet story of painting and glittering pinecones with his daughter. Sherry Yard talked all about food! She loves making breakfast on Christmas morning with foods you can “nosh” on all day long!
These are two traditions I’d love to join them for!
