Just wanted to let you know that there is a typo in your article. #5 has “back” and should be “bake”.
“Spoon into baking dish and back for 30-40 minutes. You want the top of the dip to be lightly browned on top”
Lynn Elliott says
l large Vidalia onion diced is missing from the “print” version of the recipe.

Thank you for pointing that out! My coding apparently ate some of the text!

I made this dip about a month ago and it was a huge hit!! I want to make it again for my husbands birthday party. I was wondering if I could mix all of the ingredients together the day before and bake it the day of the party?
Mariah says
You should be fine as long as you keep it refrigerated! I wouldn’t prep it more than 24 hours in advance though! I’m getting ready to make it again for holiday entertaining! I know I’m going to eat SO MUCH of it! :)
Alex says
Is this recipe possible to make without the mayo? Sounds delicious! But I have a bit of an intolerance for mayo.
Mariah says
Alex, you can try using greek yogurt instead. It will work and it’s just about whether or not you like the flavor with it. I know some people don’t love it. We use it a lot in our house.
Aurora l says
Can this be prepped and frozen for baking at a later time?
BJ says
Have you ever tried putting it all in a crock pot? I’m wanting to serve it at a reception and want it to stay warm.

I made a couple of changes and the result was fantastic and loved by everyone. I graded instead of dicing the onion to blend the flavors more evenly. I added a packet of onion soup mix, used a premade bag of shredded Italian cheeses, added a bit of liquid smoke and a bit of Worchester. Turned SO good.
