Cleaning

The one thing that family life brings is laundry. As a family of five with two dogs, we always seem to have a pile of laundry to work our way through. That leaves me trying to figure out the best time to do laundry to save both time and energy. There are a few things we can do to make laundry more efficient no matter how big or small your family is!

BEST TIME TO DO LAUNDRY

When it comes to figuring out the best time to do laundry, for our family a lot of it has to do with what I can do to save a bit on the amount of energy we use without sacrificing clean clothes.

If you’re also focused on saving energy and lowering your energy bills, try one of these simple tips to help you figure out the best time to do laundry.

  • Wash in the morning or later at night to avoid peak hours with your energy company. You can visit your energy company’s website to learn more about the times they consider peak and off-peak.
  • Usage can change depending on the time of year. In the summer, do laundry earlier in the day to avoid energy use peaks that happen in the afternoon. In the winter, do your laundry later at night because electricity usage is often higher in the morning.

So the best time of day to do laundry depends on the time of year and also your particular energy company. The best thing to do is to always try to avoid times of peak energy use like the evenings when everyone is home.

MORE ENERGY-SAVING LAUNDRY TIPS

There are more things you can do to make your laundry routine more efficient without anything getting too complicated.

  • Use colder water temperatures. You can reduce the amount of energy you use doing laundry by using warm or cold water.
Skip the dryer and line dry your clothes to lower the part of your energy bill related to your laundry.
  • If you don’t want to line dry, be sure to keep the lint trap clean so the air can circulate. It will help help the dryer work more quickly and save on electricity.
  • If your dryer has a moisture sensor setting, use that so it will finish once it senses the clothes are dry. It can also save energy by ending the cycle more quickly than timed drying cycles.
  • On the flip side, if your washing machine has a sanitize type of setting, avoid using it as much as possible. Usually, that bumps the temperature of the water up which leads to increased energy use.
  • Washing larger loads is a great to save energy and time as long as you don’t sacrifice the quality of clean clothes! It’s important to have a washing machine and a detergent that can handle larger loads.

HOW TO WASH LARGER LOADS OF LAUNDRY

If your machine can handle larger loads of laundry while still getting your clothes clean, then don’t be afraid to try it! Just be sure to follow basic laundry steps to make it as effective as possible.

  • Separate your laundry and sort lights and darks, fabric types, and clothing that needs to be washed at different temperatures.
  • Pre-treat stains.
  • Use the right amount of detergent and use a detergent that works!

The newest addition to our laundry room is Tide Power PODS. With 50% more cleaning power than the Tide Original Liquid, the Tide Power PODS offers us the ultimate clean one large load at a time! I picked our up at Target when I spotted it on an end cap and had to try it out!

The Tide Power PODS are designed to work in any machine, any temperature, and any water condition. They dissolve completely and each Tide Power POD is formulated with:

  • More cleaning ingredients vs. 2 Tide PODS
  • 2X more freshness power vs. 2 Tide PODS
  • Long-lasting fresh scent

We don’t have to worry about stains sneaking through the wash, even when I fill our washing machine to capacity.

There are two variants of Tide Power PODS. You can get Spring Meadow or Heavy 10X Duty.

Tide Power PODS Spring Meadow offers 2 times more freshness power versus 2 Tide PODS. But I’m a huge fan of Tide Power PODS Heavy 10X Duty because they’re designed for impossible stains!

If you’ve ever dealt with stains like grease, oil, red wine, blood, or smoke, then you’ll want to try Tide Power PODS Heavy 10X Duty to help fight the set-in stains and the caked-on dirt.

From now through February, you can try Tide Power PODS and save with some great coupons!

Depending on your favorite store, you can get a $3 off coupon or a $2 off coupon at your favorite retailer! At Target, you can save $3 off both variants of Tide Power PODS through 1/25 or visit CVS to pick up the Spring Meadow variant and save $3! You can save $2 at Kroger or get $3 off with the P&G Everyday eSaver coupon too!

So get ready to tackle your family’s laundry while you save time and energy with these easy tips and help from Tide Power PODS!
