No matter what time of year, chili is one of my favorite comfort foods to whip up. I like it because it’s easy to make and so versatile. Now that the weather is colder out, we’ve been making it a lot. This Crock Pot Cream Cheese Chicken Chili is our newest version of chili. I love how easy it is to start with the basics and change them up a bit to get an entirely different flavor!
This is the easiest way to get creamy white chicken chili in a slow cooker! It’s a delicious recipe to come home from after a chilly day!
CROCK POT CREAM CHEESE CHICKEN CHILI
I’ve been playing around with different Crock Pot chili recipes this winter. I love my basic recipe with ground beef and a variety of beans, but I wanted to see what else I could come up with, especially using different proteins like plain chicken and ground turkey.
I’ve ended up with tons of easy Crockpot chili recipes that I’ll be sharing. This white chicken chili with cream cheese is one of my current favorites because it is so creamy, packs a ton of flavor, and has corn in it! I’m a huge fan of adding corn to my chili these days.
SLOW COOKER CREAM CHEESE CHICKEN CHILI INGREDIENTS
Using cream cheese in chili turns it into a rich creamy meal that always seems to take care of my craving. If you like your chili on the mild side, you could skip the green chiles, although I find that they don’t add much heat. They add more to the flavor. So I would adjust the amount of chili powder you use to control the heat.
Many people ask me about the green chiles but I feel like they’re pretty essential to the overall flavor of this chicken chili Crockpot recipe.
Here’s the full list of what you need to make this recipe. You can also print the full recipe at the bottom of this post.
- ½ pound boneless, skinless chicken breast
- 1 can kidney beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 can diced tomatoes with green chilies
- 1 can corn
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- ½ tablespoon paprika
- ½ tablespoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 2 cans chicken broth
- 1 cup water
- 1 8-ounce package cream cheese, cubed
I know this looks like a long ingredient list compared to some of our recipes, but most of it are the seasonings. Trust me — you want to include them all to get some great flavor!
The only kitchen equipment you’ll need to make Cream Cheese Chicken Chili are your Crock Pot, measuring cups, and measuring spoons. Here are some that we recommend:
If you want your clean up to be super easy, I highly recommend using Slow Cooker Liners! When your food is ready, it’s simple to just pull the liner out, leaving your Crock Pot clean!
HOW TO MAKE WHITE CHICKEN CHILI IN THE CROCK POT
Place the chicken breast, kidney beans, tomatoes with chilies, and corn in the pot of your slow cooker.
Season with chili powder, paprika, cumin, black pepper, and garlic powder.
Add the chicken broth and water then stir to combine all ingredients.
Add the cubes of cream cheese then place the lid on the Crock Pot and cook on LOW for 6 to 8 hours or HIGH for 4 hours.
Before serving, take the chicken breast out of the slow cooker. Allow it to cool for a few minutes, then shred the chicken with a fork and return to slow cooker.
Stir to combine and serve with your favorite toppings.
Some of our favorite toppings include:
- Jalapeno slices or diced jalapenos
- Shredded cheese
- Sour cream or Greek yogurt
- Tortilla chips or strips
- Avocado or guacamole
- Diced tomatoes
- Salsa
You can top it with almost anything you like! This is one the best Crockpot chili recipes to make if you’re looking for a bit of a southwestern vibe. So anything you might top your tacos with can work great as toppings for this chili!

CROCKPOT CREAM CHEESE CHICKEN CHILI FAQ
CAN YOU PUT RAW MEAT IN SLOW COOKER FOR CHILI?
You can put raw meat in the slow cooker for chili. Most recipes, whether chicken or ground beef, call for you to put the raw meat in the Crock Pot. You can brown the meat or cook the chicken before but that takes more time and leaves you with more dishes to wash.
So you don’t have to cook the meat before you put it in the slow cooker! The recipe will take care of it!
DO YOU ADD WATER TO CHILI IN A SLOW COOKER?
For this recipe I use a combination of chicken broth and water. If you like your chili a bit more like soup then you can use more water. You can also substitute all chicken broth for the water. If you want to only use water, you can do that too but I like the flavor the chicken broth adds to the chili.
DO YOU HAVE TO BROWN MEAT BEFORE SLOW COOKING?
You do not have to brown meat before slow cooking. It’s a personal preference. You can brown or cook your meat and then add it to the Crock Pot or just put it in raw.
CAN I USE BLACK BEANS IN THIS WHITE CHILI?
Absolutely! You’ll get a bit of a different look, but you’ll get great flavor! Black beans are one of my favorite beans to use in my chili! They pair well with the cheesy chicken in the Crock Pot!
WHAT ABOUT ADDING CREAM CHEESE TO BEEF CHILI?
If you want a creamier beef chili, adding cream cheese is an easy way to make it! I’d add the same amount of cream cheese to your recipe. It’s a bit of a different take on classic beef chili but it will be delicious! My favorite thing about the best Crock Pot chili recipes is that they’re easy to tweak to your own cravings!
