I like to start the week off with a good family meal but I still want it to be easy! So I’m always looking for fun twists and takes on meals I know my family enjoys. Since we all enjoy a good, messy Sloppy Joe sandwich, it only made sense to change it up a bit which is exactly what I did with these easy Sloppy Joe Empanadas.
Easy Sloppy Joe Empanadas
Our weeks get busy pretty quickly so making time to sit down together and share a meal is one routine I hope to keep up even as the kids get older. Manwich makes it easy to start the week off with a great family meal. Manwich is a hearty sauce with a sweet and tangy taste that comes in three varieties:
- Manwich Original
- Manwich Bold
- Manwich Thick & Chunky
Manwich has no meat and is a tangy sauce that is great for sandwiches, pastas, and more. The fun part is that it’s a messy dinner idea that takes two hands to eat! That means everyone has to put down their devices and focus on mealtime!
So grab a can of your favorite Manwich variety and check out how easy it is to make these Sloppy Joe Empanadas!
What You Need:
- 1 can of Manwich (choose your favorite variety!)
- 1 lb ground beef or turkey
- 1 can refrigerated pizza dough
- 1 cup shredded cheese
What You Do:
- Heat the oven to 425 degrees.
- Brown ground beef and drain the grease before returning to pan.
- Add can of Manwich and heat thoroughly.
- Roll out pizza dough and use a round cookie cutter or bowl to cut circles of dough.
- Place a spoonful of Manwich mixture into the center and sprinkle with cheese.
- Fold one side of dough circle over the top and use a fork to seal the edges.
- Place empanadas in oven for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
- Enjoy!
You can also use refrigerated biscuits for the empanadas. All you have to do is separate the biscuits and roll them out so they are thinner. The thinner the better but don’t roll too thin because you don’t want the dough to tear!
