Easy Trix Cookies Recipe
Let’s face it, food is part of our lives and we can’t do much about that. But instead of spending all my time alone in the kitchen, I love planning recipes that the kids can help out with! Now that Weston is older, he’s more helpful in the kitchen but Carrigan loves to climb up on the step stool and do her best! So when we get the chance to make something together, I jump at it!
I have to because even if it’s a bit messier than when I’m alone, check out how cute they are! Plus it’s a great way to learn some life skills!
A gorgeous morning quickly darkened into a rainy afternoon yesterday and the kids were getting a bit of cabin fever. So into the kitchen we went. Cookies are a favorite around here so it was time to have a little fun with one of our favorite cereals! Check out how easy it was to make this Trix cookies recipe! (The great thing about it is that you can substitute in your favorite cereal! We love making them with Cocoa Puffs too!)
What You Need:
- 1 package sugar cookie mix
- 1 stick of butter, melted
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup Trix cereal
It was so easy to find everything we needed for this recipe at Walmart! The kids found a perfect family size box of Trix in the cereal aisle! They love helping at the store too!
What You Do:
- Heat your oven according the to directions on the cookie package.
- Stir together sugar cookie mix, melted butter, and egg until it forms a soft dough.
- Gently fold the Trix cereal into the cookie dough.
- Use a medium cookie scoop to place cookies at least 1.5″ apart on a cookie sheet covered in parchment paper.
- Bake 13-18 minutes. (Our cookies took about 18 minutes which was longer than the directions on the sugar cookie mix packaging.)
- Let cool for 10 minutes and enjoy!
This recipe was so easy to make and is a great way to give your kids some experience in the kitchen with you. Kids love making cookies. Trust me! I know! And when you use a prepackaged sugar cookie mix, it makes it really easy to do even with your younger kids!
