I am all about holiday traditions. I love to do things like bake cookies, walk around the neighborhood looking at the Christmas lights, and other things that will create memories year after year with my kids. That is why I am a fan of our Elf on the Shelf. Another new tradition I would like to introduce now that W is old enough to help is making a gingerbread house. It’s a tradition you can easily incorporate into your Elf on the Shelf ideas!

Elf on the Shelf Ideas: Gingerbread House
I have waited for W to be old enough to help put together a gingerbread house. He is definitely into doing art and crafty things these days so I think it’s a great new tradition to introduce to our holidays celebrations. But I wanted a way to incorporate our elf into the mix as well.
Then it hit me. Our elf is the perfect delivery man for our gingerbread house kit. While I try to come up with ideas for our elf that can involved the family in affordable and fun activities, this one does require putting together a gingerbread house kit or buying one. But I also love to shop at the holidays so this isn’t too much of a hardship for me! And I’m okay with admitting that!
So if you plan to make a gingerbread house with the kids this year, consider having your elf show up one morning with it. You will have an activity for the day (perhaps save it for winter break from school) and another day of Elf on the Shelf crossed off your calendar!
