End of Year Giving with DonorsChoose

As the year comes to an end, we’re enjoying time together at home. But the new year is around the corner and the kids will be returning to school. We’ve been looking at our finances and planning some end of year giving and with school on my mind, DonorsChoose is a great option for year-end giving that does good in our kids’ classrooms!

This post is sponsored by DonorsChoose.

END OF YEAR GIVING WITH DONORSCHOOSE

This is the time of year when many of us are thinking about making charitable contributions. As a nonprofit, DonorsChoose is a great way to do your year-end tax-deductible giving while making a difference in the lives of teachers and students. It is a way for us all to have an opportunity to support teachers and get them the resources and experiences they need to succeed!

I have been on both sides of the DonorsChoose experience. I still remember having my project funded during my first year of teaching. Generous donors helped me build my classroom library for my first graders!

As a donor, I am always on the hunt for projects that focus on technology, classroom organization and meeting the needs of students. These are things I look for in my children’s classrooms when I drop them off at school. These are things I feel all students should have access to and are the things that make for a rich learning environment.

There are so many different projects available on DonorsChoose and if you visit The Simple Parent DonorsChoose page you’ll see some of my favorites.

As a former teacher, I know just how much of their time, energy, and money my friends pour into their classrooms. Did you know that every year U.S. public school teachers spend over $1 billion of their own money on classroom materials for their students? When I was in the classroom, I know I spent a good amount of money on my classroom. I wanted it to be an amazing place for my kids to learn.

That $1 billion works out to an average of over $500 per teacher, and many spend more than $1,000!

I love that with DonorsChoose we can support teachers across the country.

If you’re looking to make a 2019 tax-deductible gift, you have until midnight on December 31st! To save time, visit The Simple Parent Giving page and choose from some of my favorite projects! I’ve chosen projects that range from technology to the arts because they’re areas that I believe are extremely important in our children’s education.

    MORE ABOUT DONORSCHOOSE

DonorsChoose is the most trusted crowdfunding platform for teachers, donors, and district administrators. Each request is vetted and DonorsChoose ships the funded resources straight to the classroom.

Since 2000, more than 4 million people and partners have contributed over $900 million to support 1.5 million teacher requests for classroom resources and experiences!

If you’re looking for a way to do some last-minute giving this year, please consider giving to our public school teachers! Visit DonorsChoose.org/thesimpleparent to check out some of the great projects available!
