Thank you to the makers of 5-hourâ„¢ TEA shots for sponsoring this post.
The great thing about a new year is that it’s a time when it feels so easy to make changes and start fresh. As a busy mom, it sometimes feels like I have so much on my plate. I find myself wondering how I’m ever going to get it all done.
At the end of last year, I took a good look at the way I was organizing myself and how I might make some simple changes to help me get things done each day. There are some simple things you can do to help yourself!
EASY WAYS FOR BUSY MOMS TO GET THINGS DONE
I almost feel a little silly sharing the three things I came up with that have helped me tremendously. They’re so simple but they work. When I find something that works, I want to share it!
Sometimes it’s easy to overlook the simple things but those small things can add up to huge changes. That’s what’s happened to me!
MAKE TIME TO EAT AND ENERGIZE
It’s so easy to get caught up in everything that needs to be done. I hear a lot of my mom friends talking about how they forget to eat sometimes and don’t eat anything until close to dinner time. I’ve never had that problem. I don’t forget to eat. But when I get busy, I don’t make the best choices.
So one thing I’ve focused on is making time in my day to eat and stay energized on a regular schedule. Yep, I’ve scheduled myself time to take a break and eat or drink something.
For me, this means I now eat breakfast at a set time of day. The same goes for lunch. Dinner is a bit more flexible based on what we’ve got on our schedule for the evening. But when I’ve made sure to eat an actual breakfast and lunch, I seem to be able to make sure I get a good dinner too.
Setting times to eat was a simple way to tackle that little issue. Now I find myself feeling more energized most of the day. But I still feel the mid-afternoon slump. I think it’s just part of me. Right around the time I need to get to the car rider line at school, all I can think about is how nice it would be to take a nap.
It’s definitely my low energy time of the day and when we have busy nights ahead of us, it’s a time when I really need to be revving up for family time. We’ve had the late baseball practice time slot so far this season which means we’re just rolling up to the fields at 7:00 pm! So I’ve got to make it from that afternoon slump all the way through to a late dinner!
5-hourâ„¢ TEA shots are my latest addition to my routine and they’ve been a huge help when it comes to the afternoon slump! They help me feel alert and energized. I love that the caffeine in 5-hourâ„¢ TEA shots comes from real green tea leaves. I’m not a coffee drinker so these have been a great option for me.
Each bottle contains about as much caffeine as a cup of the leading premium coffee. I happen to love the flavors more than the flavor of coffee! Each bottle has zero sugar and four calories while being packed with vitamins and nutrients! Once I tried my first 5-hourâ„¢ TEA shot and felt how it helped me through that challenging time of day, I was hooked.
Oh and those flavors I love? The shots are available in Peach Tea, Lemonade Tea, and Raspberry Tea. Peach Tea happens to be one of my favorite things to drink so I love the flavor option! I drink one a day when I need a bit more energy and I’ve found that my afternoon slump is a thing of the past which means I’m getting a lot more done during that time of day!
You can learn more here and find 5-hourâ„¢ TEA at your local Walmart retailer. I’ve also purchased mine at Walgreens!
WRITE MORE THINGS DOWN
One of the best things I’ve done over the past few weeks is to write more things down. For me, a TO-DO list is a huge help. It helps me stay focused on what I’d like to get done each day.
It also helps me feel more in control of everything going down because I can see it all on paper in front of me. I know I’m not going to forget anything.
But there’s something a little different about my TO-DO lists these days. Instead of making some huge list for the week of everything I need to get done, I take it one day at a time. I also prioritize and put the important things at the top of the list. The things that would be nice to get done go near the bottom especially if they are things that can be done the next day
I put everything on that list though. I write breakfast on my list. I write lunch on my list. There are days when I even write down a break time for myself.
Why do I do that? Because it helps me make sure those things happen. It also helps me see that I am getting things done each day. Instead of complaining that I got nothing done, I can look at my list and see that I did accomplish things. Even if it was just eating breakfast and making lunch. Those are important things that I used to downplay.
So start writing things down and you might find you’re getting more done each day than you give yourself credit for!
FIND A PLANNER THAT WORKS
I’ll be honest about something. Every year I get a new planner. I use it for a few weeks and then abandon it. I finally figured out why this happens. I get caught up in the end of the year excitement to buy a planner for the new year and usually buy whichever one everyone seems to be raving about at the time.
This year I figured out that the one that everyone loves might not be the one that works best for me.
I love seeing everything we have coming up in one place. It’s the best way for me to manage my work, school events, dance, swim, and baseball. We’ve got theater tickets this season so that’s another regular addition to our schedule. Having it all in one place helps me stay on top of things.
Knowing that, I looked for a planner that offered me the page layouts I needed to see that kind of thing. I know a lot of my friends meal plan and they’ve mentioned needing a good monthly planner page layout.
But then I need a weekly plan. I actually do a lot of my TO-DO lists in my planner so I needed pages that had a lot of space for each day of the week too. I was worried it would take me a while to find a planner that would work for my needs. But there are so many out there that I had no problem at all!
I actually got a new planner last year that started in August so I’m happy to say I’ve been using the planner for quite a few months now and it’s made a huge difference in feeling more organized and getting things done each day.
My point is, if you’re not a planner person, don’t count them out! The key is finding one that works for your needs. It can be paper or an app or anything that works well for you!
But I think it will help if you’re trying to get on top of things and get things done this year. It’s an easy way to see what you’ve got going on. If you make your TO-DO list right in your planner, you can also see how much you’re getting done each day!
It’s really a great way to build up that feeling of success and accomplishment.
So while I still think these things are so simple it’s crazy that I’ve only realized how impactful they are recently, the fact is that they’re changing my new year! I’m full of energy and making things happen!
Sure, I don’t always get everything crossed off my list for the day, but I’m also going easy on myself and not letting the things that don’t get done be the theme of my days. This year I’m focusing on all of the success I have in my life as a busy mom.
When I need a little help making it through the low part of the day, I reach for the caffeine in 5-hourâ„¢ TEA shots to help me get the energy I need while feeling good about it and enjoying the taste too! It’s an easy way to make sure I’m alert and ready to roll during one of the most important times of my day!
