How To Find Good Gifts for Grandma for Mother’s Day

    Holidays

This post is sponsored by Kohl’s. I was paid for this post and received the included jewelry as compensation.

With multiple generations living together under one roof, my kids love hunting for gifts for both mom and grandma when it’s time to buy holiday gifts. Mother’s Day is no exception. Grambo takes the kids out to find a gift for me and I take them shopping for her. Finding good gifts for grandma sometimes feels like a challenge, but I’ve figured out some ways to make it easier!

HOW TO FIND GOOD GIFTS FOR GRANDMA

For my kids, grandmother gifts are just as important to them as gifts for me or for Justin. They love thinking up the perfect gift for her! She truly is an integral part of our daily lives and I don’t know what I would do without her. She has been here through the good times and the challenging times. We’ve supported each other through the lowest times of our lives and are now enjoying making so many amazing memories together.

I love that she’s part of my children’s lives on a daily basis. They love her so much and when Mother’s Day rolls around, they love finding her a gift!

When it comes to Mother’s Day gifts, my kids sometimes choose to go the homemade route and other years they ask to go shopping. Either way, it doesn’t have to be challenging to find the best gifts for grandma!

One of their favorite Mother’s Day gift for grandma that we’ve made in the past is our Cherry Blossom Tree Tissue Paper Craft. The also loved making this easy Paper Plate Flower Craft. My mom loves all things nature and plants so the kids loved making their own homemade flowers for her!

That is the first thing to focus on when hunting for good gifts for grandma! Think about what grandma loves!

    FOCUS ON WHAT SHE ENJOYS

It’s easy to do a search online for Mother’s Day presents for grandma and get a ton of results. But if you want something a bit more meaningful, skip the mugs and shirts that say things like World’s Best Grandmother. Unless your child falls in love with it on their own and insists it’s the perfect gift, we’ve found the gifts are more meaningful when we help the kids really put some thought into it.

So I encourage my kids to think about what Grambo really loves in life. They’ll come up with a quick list that includes plants, owls, butterflies, books, brownies, and shopping!

They might not be the most complex ideas, but they come from the things my kids notice about their grandmother and that gives whatever they choose as a gift meaning for all of them.

    HOMEMADE OR STORE BOUGHT?

When you’re trying to decide on making homemade gifts or going shopping, I find that Grambo loves anything homemade. But sometimes the kids just aren’t into it. They watch me shop for gifts and sometimes they want that experience.

So I’ve found that listening to them and what they want to do usually leads to us having good gifts for grandma!

My advice is to take a deep breath and don’t stress too much. If you sit down with your kids and help them put some thought into what gift grandma might like, she will love it whether it’s handmade or from her favorite store!

This year, my kids wanted to go shopping. We’ve been working on learning about money and how to manage it so they’ve been saving their allowances sometimes and other times they’re ready to shop.

Butterfly necklace from Kohl's jewelry collection

Kohl’s is one of my favorite stores when it comes to gift-giving because I always feel like they have something for everyone! I also love how often I can get Kohl’s sale pricing and rewards like Kohl’s Cash!

When my kids decided they wanted to get Grambo a necklace for Mother’s Day, I knew Kohl’s fine jewelry collection would have plenty of options for them to choose from. They were on the hunt for a necklace with a flower, a heart, or a butterfly. I figured a heart would be easy but was thrilled when they found a gorgeous Sterling Silver Abalone Butterfly Pendant Necklace.

My mom has a passion for butterflies that really developed after my sister passed away. She looks for a butterfly each day when she’s out and about. She sees one every day too! It’s something she’s taught my kids and it’s a connection between them that I absolutely love.

As long as there’s thought behind a Mother’s Day gift, I think it’s a perfect gift. So this year we’ve got a gift they found at Kohl’s and I know she’s going to fall in love with it!

The kids also shopped with Grambo at Kohl’s for a gift for me and I cannot wait to see what it is! I love seeing what they chose!

    GIFT OF TIME AND EXPERIENCE

If you’re one of those people that is on the hunt for gifts for grandmothers who have everything, homemade crafts have been my go-to in the past. We’ve been doing something a little different lately.

When it feels like she might have everything and your kids are resisting making another handmade card (I’ve been there), remember that sometimes time and experiences are the best gifts.

Sometimes we take my in-laws out to dinner and sometimes we take Grambo to paint pottery. We also love traveling with Grambo and having her along for our adventures! Simple activities together have proven to be a great gift. During my time as a mom, I’ve learned just how much all the grandparents in our lives love spending time with the kids!

So if you’re looking for gifts for the grandmother that has it all, don’t forget that spending time together or experiencing something together can be a great way to celebrate Mother’s Day with multiple generations!
