Easy Ways to Improve Your Credit Score

    Family Life

Thank you Lexington Law Firm for sponsoring this post. A high service partner and consumer advocate that will help you fight for the credit you deserve!

Over the past few years, I’ve focused a lot on our finances and our credit. I had some lofty goals I hoped to achieve like paying off our cars and our house to minimize the amount of money going out each month. I also wanted to work on improving our credit score so we could be prepared for future loans we may need or want.

WAYS TO IMPROVE YOUR CREDIT SCORE

My parents divorced when I was 15 and I saw the impact it had on my mom. She was suddenly a single parent who didn’t have a job because she’d been working to launch her own business. As a self-employed entrepreneur myself, I can understand the hard work and sacrifices she was dealing with. It’s the experience that has driven my own financial goals for my family.

Some of the decisions she had to make had an impact on her credit.

Sometimes life throws curve balls at us. Having a low credit score If your credit score isn’t quite where you’d like it to be after dealing with challenges in your life, there are things you can do to repair your credit. It may take time to improve your credit but you can do it. We all have the right to have good credit and the is on our side when it comes to helping us fix mistakes we may have made. Fixing errors might not be easy, but it can be done!

On average, it takes about four months to correct errors so it’s all about being patient and getting help if you need it!

It may take time but if it helps you reach your goals, I’ve found it’s worth the effort!

After my parents separated, my mom used a credit card to get some things that she needed like clothes for work, Christmas gifts, and some furniture to replace some that were in dire need. The balances crept up. She was doing her best to take care of what she needed to take care during a trying time.

She ended up with a chunk of debt to deal with and once she was in a place where she could, she started working on repairing her credit score. Her financial journey is what has inspired me and my own journey. She’s my inspiration and I admire how she worked hard to get to where she is today.

She has a healthy credit score and has gained a lot of knowledge that she has shared with me.

CREDIT ERRORS THAT CAN HURT YOUR CREDIT SCORE

When we started looking for our first home after moving to Texas, we knew we had to make sure both my mom and I had healthy credit. We were excited to buy our first home together after a huge move and a new chapter in our lives. So we took a look at both of our credit scores and the things that might be affecting them.

There are a number of things that can have a negative impact including high credit card balances, late payments, the length of your credit history, and credit report errors.

We worked hard to make sure that all of our payments were made on time as we worked to pay down our high credit card balances. I had been working on my credit through college so I had a credit history. Handling credit report errors can take some time and you don’t want to be denied a home or a car loan due to these errors.

Once you identify the issues you need to work on, you’ll have a plan. For me making a plan is one way I make things happen.

HOW TO IMPROVE YOUR CREDIT SCORE

The first step is to get familiar with your credit report and get a good understanding of what you’re dealing with. It’s okay to face the music. It was our first step to helping my mom take control of things.

Then we figured out a budget that would cover what we needed in our daily lives while also attacking her credit card balances. She was always great at making her payments on time so she had that going for her.

If that’s something you struggle with then get out the calendar. Use a bright colored marker and write the dates you need to pay bills on the calendar or in a planner. Set alarms and reminders in your phone! Stick to your plan and make it happen!

It may sound like a lot of hard work, but you don’t have to feel alone when it comes to facing your credit score. You have the right to dispute items on your credit report that might not be accurate. The law is on the consumer’s side. Using a credit repair service can be a great help. It’s good to have support.

GETTING MORE SUPPORT TO REACH YOUR GOALS

The credit repair industry has grown rapidly which has created a lot of information that might feel overwhelming. Lexington Law is the oldest and most respected name in the credit repair industry and they believe that we have a right to a fair and accurate credit report!

They’ve assisted more than half a million consumers using their legal experience and technology to advocate and drive results. They’re here to help us get on the road to a great credit score. They also have packages to meet a variety of needs and they start as low as $24.95 a month. That’s a small price to pay for knowledge and support to get your credit report repaired and go after your dreams.

Lexington Law has relationships with all three of the credit bureaus. They use these relationships and expertise in the area of consumer protection laws to communicate routinely and efficiently. They can leverage their knowledge for the consumer’s benefits. They have our backs and will fight for our rights!

I wish we’d had access to Lexington Law when my mom was working on her credit score. It would have been nice to have the support from an expert in credit repair. If there’s one thing life has taught me, it’s that it’s okay to ask for help!

I know I could stand to do it more often whether it’s help getting my kids to baseball practice or help to fix credit report errors!
