Last Road Trip of the Summer

Our family loves to travel around the country and our goal is to visit every state in the USA!  And before school starts this year, we are going to squeeze in the last road trip of the summer by heading back to the sunshine state of Florida!

Last Road Trip of the Summer

We’ve been to Florida before as a family. Our first family road trip as a family of five was to Orlando last year, so this year we’re heading to the panhandle! When traveling with just myself, Mariah, and the two grandkids, I’m all about being prepared to keep everyone happy! So how do I make sure we’re prepared?

    Entertainment

If you have a DVD player in the car, you’re set to go! Just get a few new DVDs or ones they haven’t watched recently and the kids will be smiling.  My grandkids are younger, so I always make sure to pack their favorite comfort items (some Legos for Weston and Carrigan’s fuzzy blanket).  Weston can spend hours drawing monsters, so drawing pads and colored pencils are a great way to keep him occupied.  Carrigan can happily browse through book after book, so we have plenty of them packed and ready.

    Snacks

You don’t want to stop at every town along the way, so be sure to have their favorite snacks in the car.  I choose the convenient, pre-packaged ones like fruit snacks and crackers.  And for a special treat, I hide away a few candy-filled toys! For this trip, I got a candy-filled baby bottle for her and candy-filled eggs for him.

Off we go on road trip to Florida...yippee!

    Safety

Once the kids are taken care of, we make sure that the car is in tip-top shape and that includes checking the tires.  A new set of tires can be a costly expense, but using our Sam’s Club membership, we can get a great deal on tires!  The Sam’s Club #DareToCompare all-in tire offer is awesome!  They offer the best brands at the best all-in price matching offer.  The brands include:

    • Michelin
    • Goodyear
    • BF Goodrich
    • Pirelli

And they also offer a Tire Installation Package with each purchase.

    • Tire Mounting
    • Tire Lifetime Balancing
    • Tire Lifetime Rotation
    • A Value Stem
    • No Charge Tire Lifetime Flat Repair
    • 24-hour Emergency Roadside Service

    Dare To Compare

Here’s how it works:  bring a copy of another tire dealers quote, on their letterhead and dated in the last 7 days, to Sam’s Club.  The tires quoted must be the same brand, same line, same load index and speed rating as the tire you want to buy at Sam’s.  Sam’s Club carries some club-specific tire lines – in these cases, they will compare their tire to the equivalent general market tire line.  Here are those tire lines:

    Club Specific Tire Model:
    • BFGoodrich Touring T/A
    • Michelin Defender XT
    • Michelin X Radial LT2
    General-Market Tire Model:
    • BFGoodrich Touring T/A
    • Michelin Defender
    • Michelin LTX M/S2
    Dates:
    • Goodyear: 6/24/2015 – 8/31/2015 ($70 off set of 4)
    • BFG: 7/3/2015 – 8/17/2015 ($50/$70 off set of 4)
    • Michelin: 8/26/2015 – 9/27/2015 ($70 off set of 4)
    • Pirelli: 9/18/2015 – 11/30/2015 ($80 instant savings)
    • BFG 9/25/2015 – 11/7-2015 ($50/$70 off set of 4)
