We’ve lived in our house for just over eight years and I’ll admit that life has taken its toll. We probably should have gotten the upstairs carpet redone before we moved in, but moving is so overwhelming that I couldn’t handle adding that to it all. Fast forward those eight years, two kids, and two dogs later and we’ve been in dire need of new flooring on the second floor. The day has come and we’ve made an amazing change with LifeProof Sheet Vinyl flooring from The Home Depot!
I’ve discovered just how versatile sheet vinyl is and am now a firm believer that there are five areas where it’s the best flooring for the second floor of our house. I’m thrilled to share with you how this product has changed our home.

LIFEPROOF SHEET VINYL FLOORING IS A MUST IN THESE 5 AREAS
If you’ve never heard of LifeProof Sheet Vinyl flooring, it’s perfect for busy family life. If you have kids or pets or both, this flooring will take the worry out of your home! It’s perfect for any room of the house because it has an enhanced urethane wear layer that repels any stain, including things like:
- Wine
- Mustard
- Permanent Marker
- and more!
Any flooring that offers stain-repelling features is one that I’m going to pay attention to! Having kids and dogs means we deal with a lot of stains. But when I think about vinyl flooring, my mind immediately goes to places like the bathroom.
That is not the only place where families can benefit from LifeProof Sheet Vinyl flooring. We’ve had the flooring installed in five areas on our second floor and I cannot imagine life before the change! (We have photos though so there’s always that reminder for me.)
BATHROOMS
Bathrooms are the first rooms I think of when I think of vinyl flooring. LifeProof Sheet Vinyl flooring is moisture-proof and mildew resistant, so it’s perfect for bathrooms.
Now it’s confession time.
When we moved in, the two upstairs bathrooms had carpet. Eight years later, they were still partially carpeted. I say partially because we had to cut most of it out of the kids’ bathroom because the dog wouldn’t stop marking it. Yes, this is the reality of my life.
We chose LifeProof Grey Ceramic Sheet Vinyl flooring from Home Depot because we’re working on painting all of our bedrooms upstairs. We’re doing them all in white or gray. So the clean look of the Grey Ceramic was perfect.
Changing the flooring in the bathroom was exactly what we needed and had a huge impact. Now we have flooring that is resistant to all of the moisture in the bathroom and that we can wipe dry after baths and showers. It’s the little things. My bathroom feels like a new place to me and I cannot wait to finish the redecorating of the kids’ bathroom!
BEDROOMS
If you’re in the market for new flooring in a bedroom area and you’re not sure what you want, consider sheet vinyl flooring. I don’t know if I would have even thought about the benefits of it in our master bedroom, but I couldn’t be happier.
I love the continuity of the flooring from our master bathroom into our master bedroom. It gives everything a clean look that I’ve been craving. The flooring was installed over the wooden subfloor in our bedroom so it made for easy installation. It has a wear layer that repels dirt and grime.
The kids and dogs love to hang out in the master bedroom so dirt and grime are things that I’m familiar with. The other great thing about the sheet vinyl is that it’s easy to clean.
I’m definitely a fan of the new look and the way it’s performed so far. It also resists dents, scrapes, and scratches. This is important to me in the high traffic areas of the master bedroom like the path from the master bathroom into the hallway.
HALLWAYS
Speaking of the hallway — it’s one of my favorite places for the LifeProof Grey Ceramic Sheet Vinyl flooring. The hallway was another problem area for us with the dog. The carpet also looked like it had seen better days. It’s one of the highest traffic areas in our home because all of the upstairs bedrooms and the kids’ bathroom are off of the hallway.
I had one concern about the flooring in the hall. I was worried we would hear every single step taken down the hall. The dogs love to run back and forth upstairs and the kids are always going in and out of their rooms.
The LifeProof Grey Ceramic Sheet Vinyl flooring has a super-thick cushioned comfort backing that helps with sound reduction. It also makes it comfortable to walk on! It’s a great option for the hallway because of those two features.
CLOSETS
There are two unexpected areas in our house where we had the sheet vinyl flooring installed. Our two closets in the master bathroom were one of them. They were originally carpeted like the bathroom. I’d never really thought about them not having carpet.
Because the closets are in the bathroom, I like having the moisture-resistant flooring in them as well. It’s also nice when I walk into the closet after taking a shower. Plus, it’s so easy to clean. I feel like our closets are cleaner and more organized now. (That could also be because we had to take everything out to get the new flooring installed, but I love it!)
STAIRS
The other unexpected area for the LifeProof Grey Ceramic Sheet Vinyl flooring was our staircase leading to the second floor. About a year ago, we removed the carpeting on our own to see what was under it. The carpeting was coming off and it was a safety issue as well as an eyesore. So we’ve spent about a year with a bare staircase.
When I found out that LifeProof Sheet Vinyl flooring could be installed on our stairs, I was ecstatic. The design aspect is huge. They look like brand new stairs. But the durability factor is the biggest thing for me.
Almost all of the features of the sheet vinyl make it a great option for the stairs!
- Comfort and sound reduction from cushioned comfort backing
- Urethane surface shield for stain, scuff, and scratch resistance
- Tough wear layer that repels dirt and grime
- Moisture-proof
I really couldn’t ask for a better option for the stairs that get used multiple times every single day.
LIFEPROOF SHEET VINYL FLOORING & DAILY FAMILY LIFE
When it comes to family life, I need flooring that is durable and easy to care for. After living with our new LifeProof Sheet Vinyl flooring for a while, I’m happy to report that we now have flooring I am happy with on our second floor.
When we’re downstairs and the kids are upstairs, the sound is minimal. The floors are easy to clean whether it’s daily cleaning or cleaning up one of life’s little messes like a dog accident or the trail of toothpaste my kids seem to leave around the bathrooms!
