Little Tikes Big Digger Sandbox Will Build Up Your Summer!

    Family Life

This post may contain affiliate links view our disclosure

We have a local community pool in the neighborhood and I plan on spending a lot of time at the pool with the kids this summer, but lately, I have been on the hunt for great outdoor toys to us in our yard! We’ve found a Little Tikes Sandbox that works great for quite a few reasons!

The Little Tikes Big Digger Sandbox has features that the kids are in love with and some features that I cannot live without as a parent!

Little Tikes Sandbox - The Little Tikes Big Digger Sandbox with a lid is a great option for spring and summer. Kids can scoop and dump sand while making tunnels and more!

    Little Tikes Sandbox

Little Tikes is a brand that we have trusted since Weston was a small fry and loved his Little Tikes play gym. So I knew exactly where to look when I wanted ideas for great outdoor toys for toddlers!

When we received our sandbox, there were a few features that I loved before we even opened the box, including:

    • An excavator attached to the sandbox that actually scoops and moves sand but won’t get lost because it’s attached!
    • Molded ramps and roadways in the sand area so kids can drive cars and trucks all around the play area!
    • A lid that also doubles as a truck ramp and increases the play area of the sandbox!
    • A great package of toys and accessories that includes a dump truck, rake, shovel, sand sifter, sand cup, and two character figures!

The Little Tikes Sandbox requires a bit of adult assembly so be prepared to do that before your child plays with it.

Little Tikes Big Digger Sandbox is great for boys who love all things trucks and construction!

    Little Tikes Big Digger Sandbox

I was thrilled because the Little Tikes Digger sandbox was easy to assemble and we were ready to take it outside in less than 10 minutes!

The only tool needed was a screwdriver we were able to put it together even with our little guy trying to help.

Once the sandbox had been put together, I was ready to move it outside and get it filled with sand.

How Much Sand Does the Little Tikes Construction Truck Sandbox Hold?

The directions recommended that you fill it with 100 pounds of sand so I wasn’t really looking forward to that but I had a different challenge to deal with before I could even worry about the sand!

Boy playing in the Little Tikes sandbox without sand.

W thought the Little Tikes Big Digger Sandbox was great for indoor play without any sand! It’s great to know that it’s such a versatile toy! Of course, it was his first sandbox and he didn’t even know what was in store!

He spent at least ten minutes playing in the sandbox before I could get it outside and begin working on my sand project!

Despite the recommendation for 100 pounds of sand, I was getting the Little Tikes Big Digger Sandbox ready for a toddler play date and knew I didn’t want it to be too full.

I actually ended up using a single bag of sand from the hardware store. It was 50 lbs of sand and I felt like it was plenty for a toddler to play in without sand ending up everywhere!

The Best Feature of the Little Tikes Sandbox

While the kids love digging and building in the sand, there is one feature that I love above all else when it comes to this sandbox. The construction theme is definitely a hit, but it’s not my favorite thing.

As a parent, I love that the sandbox has a lid. I’m all about the lid.

We’ve had boxes before that didn’t have lids and it almost wasn’t worth having a sandbox. Now when it rains or just when we head back inside, I can close the lid on the Big Digger sandbox and keep the sand clean and protected!

Little Tikes Construction Truck Sandbox & Toys

Weston loved the sandbox when it was empty in the house and he was an even bigger fan of when it was full of sand and sitting out in the front yard!

He loves trucks and anything with wheels which is why I liked the construction theme of this Little Tikes Sandbox. The sandbox comes with enough toys in the box to keep the kids entertained without needing to buy any extra toys to use with it.

Little Tikes Sandbox and Water Table

We’ve also used the Little Tikes Big Digger sandbox as a water table. It works great with water in it and Weston loved floating toys boats (not included) around in the water too.

The Little Tikes Big Digger Sandbox is a huge hit with the kids. It’s also a hit with us as parents because it’s so easy to assemble and a breeze to clean up and put away! We won’t ever have to wonder what happened to the lid because it is attached to the side of the sandbox when it’s open!

This is a great product!! I love this idea better than going to a playground that already has a sandbox. This why you know that there are not a lot of germs in the sandbox. I know my son would love this!

I have had a variety of riding toys, tables, play equipment for my nieces & nephews during their lives. I really think that the younger ones would love this.
