    Cleaning

Need to find a routine for keeping your house clean? Try this living room cleaning checklist to make it easy!

The living room is the heart of our home. We spend a lot of time together there which means it’s always a busy place. That means it’s important to keep it clean. This year I’m making it easier by following this simple living room cleaning checklist!

Sponsored Post: This post is sponsored by Bona but the content and opinions expressed here are my own.

    Living Room Cleaning Checklist

When it comes to cleaning the house, I want to be more intentional this year. I want to have a plan that helps me be more consistent. I want to avoid getting overwhelmed when it suddenly feels like our house hasn’t been cleaned in weeks.

In the living room, Justin has his desk, we have the couches and coffee table, the kids have books and movies, and Carrigan has toys.

    So many toys.

When it comes to having a family, there’s one duo you can always count to be wonderful together — kids and toys. They have so many hours of fun together but it seems like I’m always picking them up!

Needless to say when it comes to cleaning our house, cleaning the living room is something I have to stay on top of or else…

So putting together a living room cleaning checklist became my plan for staying on to of things this year!

Pick up the toys on a daily basis to make living room cleaning easier!

    Daily Living Room Cleaning Checklist

When it comes to cleaning our living room, I’m pretty good at keeping up with the daily chores. I don’t like to go to bed without tidying up the living room. Waking up to a room full of toys isn’t the way I want to start my days.

There are four things I focus on when it comes to daily chores in the living room area.

    1. Picking up the dishes, clutter, toys, and any garbage.
    2. Tidying up the furniture by putting pillows on the couches and folding throw blankets.
    3. Straightening up the bookshelves and desk area.
    4. Sweeping and using our handheld vacuum to clean up any crumbs or other little messes.

Check the toys off on the living room cleaning checklist each day!

That perfect pairing of toys and kids leaves its mark every single day in our living room. They usually help me tidy it up so I can’t complain. I know one day I’ll miss the days of toys scattered across the floor.

I’ll miss those familiar dolls from my childhood that Carrigan loves now too, right? They’re the perfect pair and have been for years! I spot that couple hanging out around our house all the time!

There’s another duo that is wonderful together and often gives me something to clean up at the end of the day — cookies and milk!

Carrigan’s favorite snack after school is a glass of milk and some cookies to dunk! They go great together and usually leave behind some crumbs for us to clean up together!

Add mopping to your weekly living room cleaning checklist!

    Weekly Living Room Cleaning Chores

Building on top of the daily living room cleaning checklist are some easy chores I only do once a week (unless they’re needed more than that).

    There four activities include:

    1. Cleaning under the couch cushions and under the edge of the couches.
    2. Wiping down the coffee table (this often happens almost daily) and other surfaces (counters, television, etc.)
    3. Dusting all the surfaces.
    4. Mopping the floor. (If you have carpet this would be where you vacuum!)

Add mopping to your weekly living room cleaning checklist!

We have wood floors in our living room and I discovered Bona products since we moved in. Bona was a huge help when it came to holiday house cleaning!

Bona makes mopping wood floors easy!

The Bona Hardwood Floor Mop and Cleaner get used in our house every single week as part of my cleaning routine! They’re a perfect pairing and a great part of the family of mops and Bona hardwood cleaning products that I’ve been using for quite some time!

There are a few reasons that I depend on the Bona Hardwood Floor Mop for my weekly cleaning.

    • It has the largest base which means it covers more of the floor at a time. That makes cleaning faster and easier.
    • Using the Bona Hardwood Floor Mop with the Bona Hardwood Floor cleaning Solution and Bona Microfiber Cleaning Pad gives me an efficient clean.
    • The Microfiber Cleaning Pad has dual zone cleaning action which picks up so much dirt! In our busy home with two young kids and two dogs, this makes a huge difference!
    • The mop is easy to put together and easy to store because it has a retractable handle hook.

Bona Hardwood Mop will make it easy to cross mopping off your living room cleaning checklist!

I also love that the mop comes with a full-size Bona Hardwood Floor Cleaner that is safe for use in my home and around my family! Plus, it dries fast without leaving a dulling residue!

They’re simply wonderful together! Another great pairing that’s often part of my weekly cleaning!

Mopping the floors is the biggest chore on my weekly checklist. Anything I can do to get it done quicker and easier is something I want and the Bona Hardwood Floor Mop has been a huge help!

Add mopping to your weekly living room cleaning checklist!

    Monthly Cleaning Checklist

To stay on top of a bit more a deep clean, there are a few things I do once a month to keep our living room in top shape.

These cleaning chores go just a bit deeper than the weekly versions.

    1. Dust ceiling fans and dust/wipe down baseboards.
    2. Vacuum the furniture (this keeps it looking fresh!)
    3. Wipe down all light switches and doorknobs.
    4. Dust the blinds and vacuum or wash the curtains.

Wipe down light switches and doorknobs monthly!

These all fit into more of a deep clean category. But if I do them once a month, it keeps everything in the living room feeling fresh. Plus it makes it easier when I decide to do a deeper clean. I always get the spring cleaning itch once the weather starts to warm up. Doing these easy tasks each month makes that spring clean go a lot quicker!

Make your house into a cozy and clean home!

My kids and my house are a perfect pairing. They’re just wonderful together so I want to keep our house feeling like a home.

It’s a balance between keeping it clean and living but it’s easy to find that balance with a little planning!
