It’s that time of year! Easter is coming! You know I’ve got something fun to do with the kids and this year it’s marshmallow playdough that’s so easy to make!

The great thing about seeing Easter on the calendar is that Spring is on the way too! Hopefully some warmer and drier weather is settling in for everyone. Whether you’re stuck inside or starting to enjoy the change in seasons with your family, this playdough recipe is the perfect way to take advantage of some of the Easter candy lining the store shelves!

PEEPS Marshmallow Playdough - This edible playdough recipe is one of our favorite activities for kids! We use Easter PEEPS to make it without coconut oil and without cornstarch. Learn how to make easy playdough and have sensory play fun with your kids this year!

    Peeps Marshmallow Playdough

I will say something before I dive into this easy playdough recipe. You can make this in the weeks and days leading up to Easter for some fun with your kids. Or you can wait until after Easter and take advantage of candy being on sale for spring fun!

The kids don’t care if they’re turning marshmallow bunnies into playdough before or after Easter. They think it’s fun no matter what day of the year it is!

You can even do this with regular marshmallows but it’s a little bit more fun with Peeps bunnies or chicks!

The ingredients you need to make this easy marshmallow playdough recipe.

    Marshmallow Playdough Recipe Ingredients

    • Marshmallow Peep Bunnies (Any color of your choosing)
    • Flour
    • Crisco shortening

It’s true that you really only need three ingredients to make this playdough! You just might have the flour and shortening in your kitchen right now!

Since the only ingredients are the marshmallow candy, flour, and shortening, this is an edible playdough recipe. I don’t make any promises about how good it tastes, but it’s a recipe you can make and not have to worry about your kids trying it out!

The first step to make Peeps Marshmallow Playdough before you put it in the microwave.

    How to Make Microwave Playdough

STEP 1. Put five marshmallow bunnies in a microwave bowl.

STEP 2. Add 4 Tablespoons of flour and 1 Tablespoon of shortening to bowl.

STEP 3. Place bowl in microwave and heat for 30 seconds.

Follow this mixing step to make microwave playdough using marshmallows!

STEP 4. Stir to mix well.

STEP 5. Take the marshmallow playdough out off the bowl and start kneading it with your hands. If it’s too sticky, dust it with a bit of flour until the stickiness is gone.

Use flour if your marshmallow playdough is sticky after you knead it.

STEP 6. Have fun playing with your Easter playdough!

To make different colored playdough, just repeat the steps of the Marshmallow Playdough Recipe for each color marshmallow bunnies you have!

If you store the Peeps Playdough in an airtight container, you should be able to keep it for up to a month or so. If it starts to harden, just put it back in the microwave for 5-10 seconds to soften it back up!

Using Peeps is a great way to give this playdough an Easter vibe but also makes for an affordable activity to do after the holiday too!

You don’t have to add any food coloring or anything to get the pretty colors when you use the Peeps bunnies or chicks!
